Comand and pioneer DVD changer

I was chatting to a guy the other day that does alot of intalls in Euro cars and he spoke about the Pioner xdv-p9.

This changer, according to him, hooks up to the stock comand system and plays dvds as well as plays cds/mp3 music as if its a normal dvd changer though the comand menu

This has to be installed through the original TV tuner only and was wondering if anyone is using this or a similar unit

Thanks

Ross G

I'm also interest to know if Pioner xdv-p9 really works as you mention. I just had my TV Tuner installed by Steve K. The reception is surprisingly well!!

just had a tuner installed by Steve as well (it is sweet!).

it would be great to know if the pioneer works like this. Much better than using the remote.

Cool! Let us know how the install goes. I'd definitely be interested in knowing how well the dvd changer integrates with your Comand.

For the previous poster: Steve K. is the top mb nav/mod installer anywhere! He installed a tv tuner in my 210. It integrates seamlessly with the Comand (German OEM tuner). He is an absolute professional and does the best work I've seen. Just do a search on the forums for "Steve" or "MBenzNL" and you'll see what I mean. I don't have pics posted yet but I will soon.

..........let me go out on a limb here and say that, the pioneer DVD changer cannot be controlled by the buttons on the face of the Comand unit. I don't even know why someone is trying to push this. The pioneer DVD changer connects to the MB TV tunner via the AUX A/V inputs. If there is no other physical connection between the changer and the Comand unit itself, then all the changer is is a an external source feed. That the pioneer changer may with pioneer head unit in a synchronized manner has nothing to do with it working with the Comand. As is comon in the world of car mods, so many claims and so little substantiation.

Thanks Ted, same thoughts I have been having... can't see how it would be controlled unless it had a fiber optic interface and was added to the FO ring...
