XM in 2000 E55

I'm installing a XM Cammander in my 2001 E55! I've just started the project so I can't give to many details at this time. The controller will go in the ashtray and should fit without having to remove the cigar lighter. I'll probably put the receiver in the glove
box and hang it from the roof of the glove box and there will still be room for a couple of owner manuals. The antenna is quite small about 1.5 x 2 x .5 high and I plan on putting on the trunk next to the front edge. The antenna is black and I plan on painting it the color of the car which is brilliant silver. The bottom surface of the antenna is magnetized but I think i'll glue it down with 3M emblem cement.
There is just on small wire that will have to be run up to the receiver in the glove box. This routing should be fairly easy.
I will need +12v power source as well a +12V ignition switched source near the glove box which I havn't found yet,. So if anyone
knows a location let me know!
I have already made a temporary installation using a external battery just to verify that the unit works plugged into the aux plug in the glove box and it works and the sound is great.

Dan L...thanks for the reply...I just looked at that exact model at my local Tweeter shop today...Iam not quite as adventerous in the install department so I was quoted 150.00 for install and 150.00 for the unit...

Since your installation is temporary, you should see what kind of reception you get if you install the antenna inside the car on the back shelf below the window. That is where mine is (on a 2003 E500), and the reception is very good. If this works for you as well, it would avoid the need to stick anything on the trunk.
