I have seen the Kenwood screen with the touchscreen. I personally thought it was sub-par. I need to check out the clarion unit. I 'm pretty happy with my Alpine, however my wife wants a touchscreen one, since it's more "simpflied"...

Yes, I did not like the Kenwood either! Check out the clarion and report back!

It is funny that it always comes down to what the wife wants! I have the same issues! LOL

Thanks

I say go with fujitsu ten eclipse. Its a competition brand with better overall sound quality and picture quality than the top of the line alpine, pioneer and kenwood units. There a lot of a mark up so you can usually get the price down lower than the alpine stuff. I have a av5101 5.8" lcd and hideaway dvd player cd changer only compatible with the eclipse, the only problem is that its not self powered so you do need an additional amp to run the speakers but go with an eclipse amp and it sounds cleaner than the stock premium sound anyway. Another cool thing is that the **** looks clean when the lcd is tucked away, just a wireless remote and some sleek buttons on the top, doesn't have that corny *** look of the alpine units so retains a lot of the mercedes prestige as opposed to the other stuff.

road head is now a past time when rollin this, just make sure shes taller than 5'5" because that center consoles a ***** for the short ones

no way. I looked in the Eclipse monitor, they are not as good as the Alpine or the Pioneer. The pictures on the Pioneer is superb!, than comes Alpine.

im biased towards alpine, but many of my friends agree that pioneer screen quality is a bit better than alpine. to me, can you really tell the difference on a 6 or 7 inch screen? i dont think so. alpine has their units more easily set up than pioneer also.

i didnt mean the size of screen between 6 or 7 inches. i meant to say, can you really tell the difference in screen quality between alpine and pioneer ? ie: difference in quality on such a small screen?

I just did a long audition of the Clarion v. the pioneer and alpine. The clarion is SO much nicer as far as looks, ease of use and resolution!

Thanks

Brad

Which models of Clarion, Pioneer and Alpine did you compare? I'm thinking of getting the Alpine CDA-7990 F1.

The CDA-7990 F1 is not in the same class. It is not an in-dash video unit. I would never spend good money ever again on a non-video head unit.

Thanks

Brad/Anyone, have you got a pic of the clarion in dash?

The reason being simply that although they look great in the advertising literature, it is more important to see how well the sit in the dash (flushness) and colour match to the surrounding leather if it be 'bird's eye maple' for example.

best head

european comand best head unit by far...

with nokia, tv, multi cd and dvd changers, av1 av2 inputs, digital bose, navigation with teleatlas disc (not navtech), fm & AM all thro roof aerial and screen antennas

motorized screens are great for covering the ac vents, and lighting up the inside of the vehicle at night..

and they look so naff as an after thought
