Anyone else think that $37K for a ~200Hp 4 cylinder is a bit much?
There are a lot of other coupe options out there now.
I owned 2 x C230 coupes and would never buy another, esp retail.

It is quite a bit, but if you look at the competition, specifically a 328i coupe, it's about par. The prices are the same and this engine has more torque and gets better mileage. I think this looks better and has some added extras that make it superior to the 328i coupe.
Yes, you're paying a premium for it, but almost everything has increased in price substantially over the years.
I don't think the previous W203 coupes are comparable as they were "downmarket" from the sedans while this is more in line with the former CLK. The E-coupe is not a CLK replacement and hence they gave it the "E" designation since it's "upmarket" even though it shares the W204 chassis.

SOB I was looking forward to buying one too. 37K for the 250? I think that the C is best looking of the three (in the front anyway) the A5 is the runaway winner from the back. You can get close to buying an A5 for that kind of money. Not a big bimmer fan but there is no way the dieselly 1.8 turbo is going to stack up to the bmw 2.8 six

Thanks for the reply nonetheless. Did you get this info from your dealer? I live in Vancouver and have a C250 coupe in order. If so I will just direct that question to my SA.
The 2011 C350 sedan is pretty much the same price as the price you mentioned for the 2012 C350 coupe. I'm guessing its a safe bet that the C250 coupe will then fall in the 40-42k range.
Thanks again for the info.

When did you order your car and where are you located? If you ordered around the same time as me then I should be expecting similarly bad news. I will try to contact my dealer so I can shed some light for myself and also everybody here.

Wow that is surprising news. I placed a deposit on my order in late June and my dealer called in the first week of July to modify some options (I sort of got forced into selecting the Premium package as well since he stated it was a "mandate" for the first batch of C-coupe orders). At that time he said I would be driving the car in late August, early September.

June 1 is when the options were released and Premium package was mandatory. I went in on Jun 2 to finalize my order and didn't hear back for a while. Yesterday was the first time I was given a hard date.

I did not know the exact price of the packages or options at that time, but a fellow member on this forum posted the PDF catalogue on another thread that had tentative prices for all the packages (hopefully they are still fairly accurate compared to the real-world pricing you received). But yes I had the same mentality as you did and I ended up only ordering the mandatory Premium package due to the lack of established pricing. Also, most of my desired features in this C-Class are standard, as opposed to an extensive list of options on the 3-series coupe which I was driving previously.

And forgot what's my build date but i think they said to expect my car at end of Oct....and that's already the first slot they have that's not already locked into production. Sigh....problem with buying European cars...no instant gratification.

Audi A5 Sportback + Cannondale Prophet
So what makes it upmarket other than price? For that matter, what made the previous C-Coupe downmarket other than price?
