Canadian Recall - EPA Emission issue

I just received a recall notice. Seems my Canadian car was assembled with the European specification engine.

Anyone else get this recall?

Call me crazy but I love the performance/power of my car and worry that changing it to Canadian (North American?) specifications will reduce it's power/performance.

Hi Rick, just got the same letter. I feel exactly like you at this moment, but I'm worrying which parts need to be changed? A 1-2 days fix seems long to me to make minor adjustments...

Unfortunately USA emission standards are a bit "tougher" then EU emission standards. However, you can't really get "upset" about them changing parts. The car is going to come with what it should have came with from the factory. If anything, you should be happy, its like you're getting a brand-new unused Catalytic converter and whatever else needs to be changed. ;)

You probably wouldn't have passed inspection anyway... :nix:

Here is more information on it:

Canadian emission standards used to be a bit more relaxed compared to USA, but still tougher then EU standards. However, recently they decided to match USA emission standards. The article is a bit outdated (2009ish) but you get the point.

I have recently received this recall notice as well. Would be interested in hearing from anyone who has had the service done. What parts were added.

2012 C250 coupe recall. EPA emission issue

Hi Rick I just received the same letter. Share the same concerns about performance etc. Any news on what exactly has to be changed and how does it affect performance?

Booked for next week. Service adviser mentioned a/c compressor, fuel pump, wire harness. Will post more info after I receive details of repair.

Anyone have this recall done yet? Curious to know how long your car was in the shop and any gut feel on whether or not it affected your performance or gas mileage.

Yes had it done at end of October. Dropped the car off at 7:30 am and picked it up at noon the next day. Job was completed late the same afternoon but they wanted to test drive it the next day. Job involved 1) Replace right side coolant pipe, powersteering pump and reservoir, crankcase vent tube, intake manifold & gaskets, High pressure fuel pump, updated crankcase vac lines, replaced coolant, updated SCN coding, DAS and charger.
2) A/C compressor check and replacement of oil drain screw and recharge A/C system.
3) Replacement of shim plate between exhaust system bracket and transmission. No noticeable change in performance. With winter conditions arriving in Ottawa in November, could not do a fair consumption comparison.

anyone else have more info on this? just picked up a 2012, not sure if its part of this recall

Had mine done in November. Done same day, but the dealer had to order the kit. I suppose I was just unlucky as one of the parts was defective and the engine light came up less than one hour after pick up, so I had to leave it for two more days (one day to get the parts, one day to replace).
Furthermore, it seems that the dealer reset everything so the car went again into the learning mode. Now it's back to normal.
