Looks great! I'm getting these as an Xmas gift for my brother. What wattage and bulb color are yours?
|
Too bad the reflectors were not made for these lights. The light goes everywhere and will blind other drivers.

The DIY above is first class and I've done quite a few myself on my other cars but they all feature projector headlight assemblies which work well with HIDs - do the headlights in our MB's have manual adjustment for vertical angle ? if so that should help the problem :) |
the factory projector lenses are needed (directing the light) to add the aftermarket hids... to get the true effect.
|
Great and clear DIY, added to the DIY thread.
I believe that there are vertical adjustments for the headlights. In my 2009 C300 there were white hexagonal plastic pieces that you can turn to adjust the headlight vertically. However, those did have projector styled lens housings, even though it was halogen. On my prior car I used a 55w 8000k kit. It was too blue and 55w was uneccessary. Not to mention, since these cars will have even worse glare with the reflector styled housings, definitely get a 35w kit. I would say don't go over 6000k in color, that is the most blue you would want without getting ricer. For best light output go with 4500k/5000k. For reference, the factory HID color is around 4300k. |
This is the best DIY tutorial I've seen on installing HIDs to date. Great job. I might end up doing this in a couple of months. How hard was it to install these on the drivers side with almost no clearance? I know the 2013 engine compartment is even tighter than the 2012.
|
I was very frustrated with the driver side, but I have small hands so it helped tremendously
|
Are those 6000k HID's..?
|
6000k. I think I should have went with 5000k.

Great DIY! thanks for the pictures :)
|
Thanks for the DIY. Is this the link to the product?
kkd79: As for the grommet, are you talking about the one directly on the base of the light bulb? http://www.ddmtuning.com/images/fullsize/hidddm.jpg |
Yes ddmtuning slim digital ballast hid kit
Yes rubber grommet at base of bulb |
Great write up KKd79
Great write up KKD79... I got a few questions though... I tried installing 6k as well on my 2013 C-250 and mines are flickering. Do you know if DDM tuning's hid ballast is DC or AC current? Have you tried installing it without the error code eliminator. And was the hid beam flickering before you installed the hid without the eliminator.

I don't think it matters much where you buy them from. I got a H7 Slim Matte Black HID from HIDExtra.com
