door light help

Which door light do you refer to?
My car has a red reflective strip on the vertical part of the door where the striker is and an actual red light on the bottom (inferior) part of the door.
Obviously the red reflective strip is to warn upcoming cars of an open door and the red light on the bottom of the door is for entry/exit at night.
Do you refer to "mood lighting" inside the cabin at night? Soft lighting coming from the door panel itself?
My Cayenne (and I think my wife's E Class has that) Nice effect.

Oh strange . . .
Was the car bought new? If bought used, I assume you have already looked for loose wiring pigtails hidden in the door. I have an inspection camera, I would put it in there to look for that pigtail.
Do Both Sides have the light fixture but no illumination?

I just checked my car . . . At night with the lights on. It would appear my car (2012 C350) has the lamps but they also do not illuminate. The lamps themselves are entirely red, not red and white with the projection magnification built in as in your photograph.
I am beginning to think the all red lamps are not lamps at all but merely reflectors. I have not removed the lamps to check for wiring yet.
I did a little research to see if this lighting was an option or standard in AMG or C63 cars. No luck.
Maybe a holdover from earlier production runs? My E350 has the lamps illuminated.
The question is, whose car here (and what year & trim) has the illuminated lights on the bottom of the door?
