i noticed this morning that only exhaust on the driver side was blowing out "smoke". Passenger side was clear.

Does anyone know whether the passenger side pipe is just a dummy for aesthetic symmetry?! Or is there perhaps something wrong with my car?

I doubt it is fake but I bet you could easily solve this mystery by looking?

i don't understand what you mean? I can see that there appears to be an exhaust exit behind the polished tip/facade.

I have also also seen that there is some soot residue on right side but not on left.

This is common in a number of cars. My 435 does this on startup to basically store heat to warm up the engine faster.

AFAIK the exhaust system is valved - when it is in "E" or "C" mode, the one side is shut - put it into Sport mode and it should open up. I think.

I noticed this and was slightly disappointed with the exhaust and lack of noise (considering it is supposed to be a sports exhaust). Anyway I asked the garage and they showed me underneath, It is a full double exhaust but there is a flap on the left side pipe that only opens under certain circumstances. I believe it needs to be in Sport/Sport plus mode and driven hard. Most of the time the flap is closed when driving normally.
