can't shift to 'drive'?
 

long story short i bought a '98 c230 a couple weeks ago that was in need of some body work. i tried to start it for the first time today and everything seemed ok; i put it in reverse to get out of the garage, backed out, put it in 'drive', hit the gas - no go. since i've never had an MB before, i have to ask this before I start worrying: is there something "special" that needs to be done to put it in drive? right now when it's in drive or any of the other positions (3, 2, 1, etc) it just sits as if it's in neutral.

any ideas?
