I'm not too sure what it is you want to do with the montior. Does an Ipod even display on an external montitor like that? From your explaination, the best I can offer you is to buy a deck that does DVD playback that DOESN'T include a pop out monitor, remove the tape holder (if you have it), use the coin tray (can be purchased at the dealer for around $20), cut the back end off of it and use it as a frame for your new deck, and mount it where the tape holder (or coin tray, if applicable ) normally goes. That's what I did for my CarPC.

this is what i did

well, i also had the same prob when i used the audio from my old car into my merc, theres not much place on the dash for mounting 2 unit aye, and they look abit odd when taking out the coin tray. I HAD to buy a monitor unit which had the dvd plaver on it, same size but both dvd input and monitor output...
