Cost of Maitenance for C280
My wife has a 1999 C280 with approximately 100,000 mi on it. The dealer told me that I need to
1. Change the Transmission Oil
2. Flush the Coolant
3. Change spark Plugs.
I went to an independent Mechanic who quoted me about $750 for the 3 services. Is this price high? I vaguely remember that the MB Dealer quoted me around the same price too. I thought the independent mechanic would be cheaper.

from what i remember estimates compared to other models
your tranny filter/oil should be tops $300 at dealer
spark plugs you can do those yourself and save
coolant flush is between $110-$150 at dealer depending on each dealer of course
so yes i think you could save some $ in your wallet

If you are do-it-yourselfer, you can save yourself quite a bit of money by investing a full Saturday of your time on this stuff and buying parts online, but each one of these is right on the border of "its just worth it to pay someone else." I am pretty sure there are 12 spark plugs on that engine and it gets cramped trying to get to all of them on the V6, so that will take some time. Tranny fluid change can be messy but it will be similar to the one listed here: http://www.dezinetech.org/w202/
