Driver's side Brake Lamp problem

My 1999 C230 Driver's side Brake Lamp keeps blowing. Took it into specialist (not dealer) repair place in Sept 2007, who discussed solution with MB dealer and replaced entire tail light assembly. Light stayed on for all of 2 days, then would come on intermittently and now comes on very rarely.

Could anyone suggest what I might try next?
