4cyl really noisey?
hello.
my 97 C230 is really loud! its very chatty compared to my 94SL or even my old E420 or E320 or E500. it makes a sort of "chatter" like the oil is bad, but i just got it changed. its always made a chatter but im not sure if its normal., it only has 18.5K miles.
also, is the fuel pump seems to be making noise, a soft of whine, i know on a lot of cars, this means that its going out, but on some cars its normal for them to make noise.
input would be nice, im driving her to vegas 2X this month!
i had a belt pully alredy replaced because it was making a bit of noise, but there is still the other noise that seems to be coming from the engine its self. kinda like stuck lifters.

For 18.5k it seems like it wasn't driven a lot so there are a lot of things that could be dried up or just gone bad... low miles doesn't mean the car is in great shape mechanically... Compared to my w124 and w210 my 98 c230 is a little louder but i just assume it was going to be because it's a 4cyl.....

97 c 230 160k. mi & just in Honda Odyssey 08, 8mi
probalby the lifters, maybe a past overheat ask the old owner maybe he had to replace the radiator that would tell history about overheat. I have the same 97 c230 170K on it i ad to replace the pump on it because noise like a low frequancy whisle and the engine was not on top shape so no more noise and gained back my lil 2.3. if its the lifters change oil every week for a month i recomend two it could run you a good 500$ with regular oil but you will save the engine on the long run that would lubricate and clean the inner works of the engine. hope this helps
