C230 Kompressor help?

Hello guys, I am looking at purchasing a c230 Kompressor (2000). Is there anything I should know about it? I have owned a W202 C280 and abolutely loved it, but sadly got into an accident and I dont have it anymore . It has 86k miles. How is the MPG and How reliable is the supercharger? That is what most concerns me. I would love to hear some personal accounts on it. How long does it last and what does it cost to replace?

Chris

My gf drives a 2000 C230K with 120k on it (we got it 6 yrs. ago/30k on it).Knock on wood we haven't had any major problems with the car, just small stupid things...like : Had to have the shifter mechanism replaced, replaced both fuel senders in the gas tank (fuel guage acting up - common in the 202's) , replaced mass air sensor at 100k.Other than that I've been pro-active on the maintenance.I replace the tranny fluid every 35k , plugs at every 50k, lube the mono-wiper every 6 months , dump a can of red-line fuel treatment in every 5k miles.Other than that I couldn't be more pleased with the vehicle. :y

The c230 will be a bit more "wild" than your c280, meaning not quite as smooth but that's one of the things I like about the car. I chose the Kompressor over the c280 originally because it has (marginally) better fuel economy but is nearly equal in torque and I believe maybe even higher HP if not similar. The Kompressor kicks in and gives you raw power when needed but is an econobox on the highway, you will barely see your fuel gauge move on a 2-hour highway sprint.

As to reliability of the Kompressor itself, I have never know of a supercharger to fail, it's exceedingly rare so I would not hesitate based on that concern alone. The other things to look for are the same as on your old 280. Good luck!
