C280 will turn over but will not start engine
hello All
please help! me I am having a hard time starting my 95 C280 fuel pressure checks ok! i pour a little gas in the intake and it runs until the gas burns off, i took off the pressure regulator but it doesn't look like the diaphragm is leaking however i understand it could be stuck closed my next possible suspect is the cam shaft sensor, does anyone know what resistance it should read??? a just want to confirm its defective before I purchase it. thanks |
why would you think its a cam sensor.
Its simple.. if you give it fuel and its starts, its obviously not getting fuel so, check if your injectors are getting power |
have you messed with the key fob recently?
usually when you have a cps issue the car will still start. if you could somehow hook up a scanner and tell me the codes its giving you, I could point you in the right direction, until then its 50/50. goodluck |
I had the same problem in my '95 c180, it ended up being the fuel pump relay which is located in the boot.
Lift up the floor in the boot and located top right of the spare tyre is a green plastic relay. Take this our of its base and open the green case up. Once youve done this you will see the part of the relay that makes contact, this will need to be cleaned up (use some light sand paper or similar). Just make it shiny again, you could also move the contact arm a little closer by bending it a little which might help to make sure it makes good contact. Hope this helps |
Check the OVP relay too, a buddy of mine just went through hell only to figure out his not starting and security light flashing was all because of the OVP.

I had a similar problem where my car did not start. I locked and unlocked using the key and inside lock switch to no avail. So I decided to step on the break hard as I cranked the car and the car started, no problem. Maybe there was a switch that was unlocked when pressed on. The car now starts as it normally did, turning the key and with light touching of the break.
I hope this helps. |
