Hi I'm looking at getting the windows tinted on my 99 C230 Kompressor and after reading about the problems with scratches on the C series, do folks have a recommendation for a good place in the Bay Area that does Benz tinting, knows about the problems with C-class, and can change the brushes/add the felt so that the tint doesn't get jacked?

anyhow i dunno about the bay area... do a search on yellowpages.com and you will find a grip in your area. call em and ask em how much and more importantly have u tinted benzes b4 and know about the felt. the shop i went to here did a full limo blacka$$ tint on my ride for 260 including the felt. they did a great job and a benz dealer takes used cars there to tint. call around but use that yellowpage address i gave u. it'll make it easier. later and yeah if ur a chick, come to o.c. and i'll get ur car tinted and lookin straight for u...hehe... if ur a dude, change ur name. later and hope i helped.

Thanks for the suggestion but wanted to see if there were some folks who could recommend a local shop. I've gotten one recommendation for a place in SF on San Bruno and Silver but just wanted to see where other folks took their cars into.

u might wanna ask edison at european motors...ask him for some recommendations on shops to do the tinting...he might know. he used to work at a volvo dealer, now at the mb shop...

what exactly should be done differently when tinting a benz? where can this felt strip be purchased, besides from a tint shop? i have a buddy who might be helping me do the tint work, but if there are special parts needed, i would like to order them first.

Mark - how long does it take for him to tint all the windows. And no problems with scratching? Did he put in new window brushes or add felt?

If I remember correctly it took between 1 1/2 to 2 hours... and he does not put new window brushes or felt. Scratches aren't a problem... the only issue I had was because of the tint.. my windows at first had a hard time rolling up automatically.... but in time.. it was fine..

They did an awwesome job for my c class.

Avoid Kingtint in San Bruno!
They suck and the quality of installation is poor!

I've taken every vehicle I own to Westint in Hayward. Top notch work. Took about 4 to 5 hours for the Benzes as compared to 2 for the Expedition. I'm guessing this means they take their time and do it right. Never a problem with scratches, peeling or bubbles.
