Wobbly Crankshaft Pulley

uh oh... ive recently been hearing a squeaking noise coming from the belts. it becomes loud enough to hear significantly every so often. i was taking a look at the serpentine belt and then i noticed that the big pulley at the bottom (i later found out it was the crankshaft pulley) wobbles. whats the deal with that???

how much usually does this run me?

did a little research and i guess this is a big problem on the M112 v6 engine (my c280 was manufactured 12/97 as a 98 model)... harmonic balancer issue

http://www.mercedesshop.com/shopforu...5&pagenumber=1

crap how much is this going to run me (out of warrantee if that does anything anyway)?

bah, $900 poorer but put towards a good cause

i caught the "wobby crankshaft pulley"/harmonic balancer problem early so there was no other damage to surrounding engine components. the pulley was the only thing that needed to be changed. the rest of the money went towards a routine maintenance for a new AT filter, fluid, fuel filter, plugs, and wires (i think).

$900 bucks for that? YOU GOT JACKED!!

Part is like 60 bucks, labor, for one hour, shouldn't be more than $175 total.

$900 sounds like $5-600 too high. Go back to the dealer and tell them that MB should pay for it. I had a '99 (January) CLK 320 balancer explode 6 months after the 4 year warranty expired. It took out the hood, radiator, belts and a bunch of other stuff. Independent shop did the repairs but I went straight to the dealer and complained. 3 weeks later, I had a check from MB for the full amount.

nonono you guys misunderstood me. the pulley replacement was about $100-200. then a routine maintenance was performed for the remainder of the $900 total.
