I have an interesting issue that I am looking for help with. I had the battery disconnected and my neighbor closed the trunk with the cables disconnected. My key will not open the trunk either by turning it clockwise or counterclockwise. Is there any other way to get into the trunk?

Get yourself a battery jump either from a good battery or another car.
Open the hood. Assuming this is a LH drive vehicle, on the DS, along the side of the engine compartment about halfway, you'll see the jumper connectors with positive and negative terminals. Connect with jumpers - ground to ground, positive (red) to red - (ground terminal first please and then the positive red)
Open you drivers door and the interior dome lights should come on.
IN your cabin, on your middle console (between the 2 front seats) flip the trunk button up. The trunk should now open (trunk switch led should be on and red)

I tried the battery but the interior lights did not come on. The circuit is open with the battery in the trunk being disconnected. Thanks for the idea.

Have you regained access to your trunk? If you use the key and only turn a quarter turn to the left then push in your trunk will open.
