1984 C230 Kompressor Check Engine Light Issues
Hi everyone,
I am hoping to get some advise here. I have a 1984 C230 Kompressor that has about 130,000 miles on it. My check engine light is on again for the 3rd time in about 6 weeks after having it fixed twice. The first time the mechanic replaced the intake manifold to the engine block vacuum line for almost $1,000. Then a couple of weeks later the check engine light came on again. The mechanic then had to replace the downstream oxygen sensor. That was $463.00. Now the light is on again and I had the codes pulled at an Auto Zone store and it came up P0410 Secondary Air Injection System.
Am I wrong to be getting some bad vibes about all this? Aren't these issues somewhat related to each other? Or could it just be a coincidence and the fact that I have pretty high mileage on the car? Being a female I have tried to research as much as I can so I don't get ripped off but I am also wondering if the mechanic could have something to do with the repeated issues.
I would really appreciate some opinions on this. Thanks so much!!

ouch!
I believe you've been raked over the coals....twice.
Did the mechanic advise you of the codes prior to this service work?
P0410 code usually (but not always) indicates egr check valve. With a high mileage car, it's likely (the egr tube) has never been cleaned. And/or the egr valve itself is bad and needs to be replaced.
Was it checked and or replaced yet?
The a reputable mechanic would have checked the simple/smaller items first before spending YOUR $1000.
EDIT: forgot to add - add some berryman b12 treatment as suggested by others into your intake and tank. These older w202s, w210s, etc will love it.

The tube may not necessarily need to be replaced, just a good cleaning as it gets clogged up (like an artery), and the egr itself needs to be tested to ensure the diaphram can still open up - if not, replace the egr.
Do a search on this forum and on youtube and you'll get the drift of what it's all about.
