2000 c230 interior sunroof control

I have been having an issue with my interior overhead sunroof control. Sometimes the sunroof button will activate and other times it will not. It had ALWAYS worked when using my key to open and close the sunroof.

I bought a used interior overhead sunroof control at the junkyard (A 208 820 19 01). I inserted the used control and it nothing worked. I then took my original control and put it back in and now nothing worked on the original control ( no sunroof activation and no lights work). Even the key to remotely open and close the sunroof doesnt work now.

This has gone from bad to worse. I have read about a reset. I tried the 5 second button push on all 4 sunroof directions while the key was on in II position. Nothing.

Any help would be grateful.

first check fuse #9 in the fuse box under the hood - it's for both the front dome light and the tilting sunroof.

#9 Fuse.

I checked the #9 fuse and it was blown. I replaced it and still nothing. Both interior dome controls (original and the interior dome control from the junkyard) dont work. Lights or sunroof controls on both do not work.

could I have fried them both? I am at a total loss.

Have you looked at and into both fuse boxes? and read thru the fuse listings (carboard paper sheet inside the fuse box lid)?

Thank you immensely for the input.

I will double check the aft fuse box tomorrow. Pulled every fuse in the forward fuse box. They all checked out fine.

could there be a relay that went bad?

I dont believe there is relay for the sunroof.
Either the over head panel control is faulty and needs to be replaced. Or it needs to be resynchronized.

Perform a continuity test of the dome light wiring first to see if there is a short in the wiring, or possibly both dome lights are bad.
