1997 c280 extremely loud noise??
Long story short. I got this car. It had intermittent starting (mostly would not start, but occasionally would). When it did start it ran like a top until it warmed up, then would begin to misfire and stall. Again, these symptoms came about simultaneously. Check engine light was on and gave only misfire codes, cylinders 1 and 3 and p0300.
Today I replaced the crankshaft sensor as a shot in the dark at fixing it. After replacing it, the car started and made the loudest screeching sound I've ever heard. I ran it long enough to take a short video. I provided a link to the video below. About 2 seconds after I stopped recording the car stalled out. Tried to crank it a couple times since then and it just turns over.
