EEEEHHHHHH!

That base price is a nice jump too... I'd rather save up some more and get the C55 with much better looks and 100 more ponies

lol I read this magazine while I was getting my tires changed and a oil change. Pretty interesting how the 280 will also be a V6. Guess they want to get rid of fours? Like what Deutscher Wagen said, I think the C350 is waaaay overpriced for being what it is. I'd rather save up the rest of the 10 grand and get the C55 in my opinion.

350 pricing....

Nice package....the 268 hp and 7 speed auto. I think the pricing is great. Same $38K as the outgoing C320 and $16K (42%) below the C55 per MBUSA web site. How can you think it's overpriced?

Thanks Manatee.

It says in the article "There are no plans to bring a diesel-powered C-Class to the States".

Too bad, because they also say "Because of the prodigious torque—at launch you’re pushed back into your seat—the car feels faster, and driving some twisty mountain two-lane roads back-to-back with the gas model, we preferred the diesel".

IMHO, it would have been nice to see that C320 CDI here. Are you listening M-B USA ?

Missing my beloved Benz
The 4's sound cheap and nothing like a BENZ! Finally they woke up and ditched them because other car makers produce 4's that are nicer then mercedes.

There are and will continue to be lots of 4 banger MBs sold in Europe, just like there are A-class cars sold in Europe but not in the US. It's my opinion that the reason that they are stopping the current C230K models and not replacing them with the direct injection 2.0L engine is because they cannot realize a high enough profit with the weak $ in the US market. I don't think the $29,000 is enough margin when you compare this with the price Germans have to pay (do a build on the German web site).

I also think they will slowly increase the price of the C Class bringing it closer to the E-class leaving room at the bottom end for the introduction into the US of the B-class (probably at around $27K - $30K) which has been delayed, again due to the low value of the $. With the B-class you will again see 4 cylinder engines.

This is all just speculation and my opinion. I might be totally wrong, but I have seen this kind of behavior before from automakers, just before they bring in a cheaper model.

Look at their German website to see all the models and engines:
