Increasing interval between services
I read on another post that the service interval on my C240Auto was, in part, dependant on the oil quaility and that the car measures the volume and QUALITY of the oil to determine how long between each A & B service.
Here in the UK the service cost is very high (£120 ($175) for A and £320 ($470) for B).
I was wondering....... If I change the oil half way through the approx 12000miles between the A & B will the computer recalculate the service gap and give me, say, 18000 miles? The oil costs £25 so I could end up saving quite a bit.
Cheers,
Paul

So, if you are asking whether you could save money this way, I would say you can't. The cheapest way will be to go with the FSS recommendation.
Just my .02
considering i've never driven a car with synthetic oil OR with such a long service interval, this is all foreign to me. i'm quite used to the dogma of 3000/3 months. is the dealer right, or should i change my oil now? i'm at 2050 miles.

The 3000/3months recommendation is typically proposed by the quick oil change places. No matter what car you drive or what your driving cycle is. I typically go 6000-7500 on my Jeep and it's gone 127,000 with zero engine problems.
Aircooled VWs that use a screen for an oil filter need to have the oil changed every 3000 miles. Use that as a reference...

It's a personal preferance... and I think I will stick to what FSS recomends
