I would get the Kleeman kit. It strikes me as sort of a step backwards going from a 203 to a car based on a 202.

I was offered a trade-my-coupe deal on an '02 CLK320 and walked away because the CLK is being replaced. I pushed for the same deal on an '03, but they wouldn't go for it. Apparently, someone saw my car/color and wanted it so badly they were willing to take one 'slightly used' and the stealership would have given me MSRP on a trade.

Take the CLK. Its a much better car, you can't really compare. Besides, IMO, the current CLK looks better than the new one. More muscular looking but still sleek.

Get the CLK, it's one of the few MBs not made by MB so it's got to be better.

There 2 very different cars. even if u get a kleemann kit if your just talking about the pully it wont be as quick as the 430.

And even if u add a kleemann kit i am guessing the CLK will still be more money inless its god tons of milliage on it.

Or u can do what i did and get both.

I just got my CLK430 even though there are going to be changed soon. i like the look much better.
The CLK430 is a really great car. I love both my cars but there very hard to compare.

Lynn-
Its not really the same plat form as the W202 its on a different chassis. And it really can not be compared to the W202 very well at all. Its very different.

i have some money down on a clk 500 cabrio.... and i admit i like the front end and the side view of the old clk a lot better.

however the recirulating ball steering and relative low tech is a turn off.

v8 power though is very very tempting

ok, to be honest, i like the looks of the old clk - very classic. but really, that's the only thing going for it for me. i'd rather have the new clk as it is supposedly a great driving car and of course, all the new technology like keyless go. and w/ rumors of a vario roof to come out for the new clk, the timing may be just right

To me my new CLK430 drives better than any other Mercedes I or my family have ever owned which is 11 Mercedes. I am actually gald i did not wait for the 03 Clk but i am sure in about a year i will trade it in for the CLK500 Cabrio. if its out yet.

And these are words from Kleemann directly. Hes basicly saying a V8 is better than any of there kits for the C230k.

The CLK's are outsourced to Karman, even the new ones.

i was under the impression that karman only made the convertible tops.... not the entire car (or any parts of the engine)

where did you get this info?

Sorry Greg, I made the whole thing up, there is no Karmann and I've never heard of Osnabrück and there's no Santa Claus. NOT!

The Mercedes-Benz CLK has been rolling off the assembly lines in Osnabrück since September 1997. Go to the Karmann's website and select Englisch | 2 Products and Services | Vehicle Manufacturing | Vehicle Assembly and watch those CLK's being built. That's why the CLK is such a great car, it's not made by MB so it's likely more reliable and better fit and finish.

There is no comparison, infact I am baffled that this question has been asked ! Hands down the CLK430 will win against the C230k, in every single aspect. The CLK430 is just so far superior to the C230k.

You just cannot even compare a 4-banger to a V8, nomatter how much you modify your coupe.

There is no comparison, go for for the CLK430.
