Talking C-Class Miniatures

Here's a website that has C-Coupe, C320 and other models made by Siku. They are under $3 and the doors open. They are Hot Wheels size.

Exactly, that's why they are sooo great, it matches my car. Of course with a black marker you can make your own panorama roof.

Ouch, $6.75 for shipping on a $2.50 item. Might as well get the Maisto model for around $20 total including shipping on eBay (or $15.99 at your local Target).

$6.75 is not a lot for shipping...

...When I had to spend $350 last month on shipping a small package, express to London... that is a lot for shipping .

I ended up buying two of the Maisto 1:18 scale Coupes. A silver one and a Capri blue one with C7 rims. I then switched the bodies so I had a model more closely resembling my actual car. I also painted the black door handles silver to complete the transformation to C7.

Interestingly enough, the silver one was a manual (pedals and shifter) while the blue one was an automatic and had the COMAND system - both were cloth interiors (maybe someday I'll paint mine to look like leather). I had to switch the silver car's interior as well to the C7 chassis (manual with no COMAND). I don't recall the steering wheels being different though (no C7 pleasure nubs), and the C7 chassis' exhaust still had a resonator, although the tip looked bigger (could have been a manufacturing variance and not an actual difference as the chromed parts looked to be the same on both models).

If anyone in the Bay Area wants an automatic, Capri blue C230K model with the double-spoke 16" rims - buy me a beer or two and it's yours.

Cheers, BT

No, the rims look generic like Hot Wheels.

I think the Siku rims look pretty MBish; think mid-80s.

Speaking of Buell and rims, I saw some chromed 16" Coupe wheels on a Citron green one at my dealer. Didn't look too bad (although I imagine they look better on a black car).

Cheers, BT

Best C models

IMO the best models of these cars are made in 1/87 (HO) scale:

- Herpa C Sportcoupé, magma red, panorama roof, regular wheels - just like our car

- Busch C sedan and wagon, Avantgarde and Elegance versions (correct wheels, of course).

Herpa also makes a sedan but to me it's not quite as good as the Busch.

I bought a Minichamps 1/43 scale c-coupe off eBay a little while back...it's pretty cool and comes in a box w/ the tri-star and is fully MB badged and such. I'll have to scan a pic of it because it looks pretty cool...

yep...Herpa makes great MB and BMW models. 1:87 scale. i have all their MB and BMW and Porsche models. each would run about 8 to 10 bucks or more.

check out www.herpa.de

Busch have some model that herpa doesn't have. imo that Herpa have better precision on scale or their parts. i only bought some Audi model that Herpa don't have.

1. Try your local model railway specialty shop;
2. You can mail order them (or online-order) from a German hobby specialist like Müller-Versand, Schweiger, etc.
3. Some model shops have them too, such as Wilkinson's Automobilia in Vancouver. I imagine there are lots of places like this in most cities.
