So did V1 have the load balancers built in? I thought the lack of those was an issue as well.

Of course they did. The alternate solution is to go back to the resistor mod but instead of having the heat inside the housing you will now have it behind your trunk liner.

Ahh..kk. Adding the resistor was a problem in my case because getting the damn liner off in the coupe is nearly impossible. I tried removing it a few months back to install the resistor and first of all it wouldn't come off, and now every time I go over a bump, I hear a rattle. I think the entire liner is loose now...need to look at it once it gets a little warmer outside.

Damn license plate lights..lol. So close...yet so far.

Use a mirror to look for and disconnect the plug going to the license plate housing if you cannot get the plastic covers off.
The wires should have enough play for you to add a resistor.

i can help...

Guys,

im a bit new to this .. so am not too sure how it works.

people have been talking about lights here - maybe i can help.

i have a HID kit for all the front lights, interior xenon lights for all the bulbs inside the car including the boot and also xenon lights for the number plate bulbs.

the number plate bulbs are extremely difficult to get hold off - as far as i know there is only one reputable person i would buy from myself.

the ones i have emit a white light which is clearly visible on the floor. dont be mistaken these are not the cheap blue bulbs which i have seen some people have.

message me if anyone wants any help....

What's wrong with posting here to share with the public just like everyone else?
Kind of shady considering you just registered and this is your only post.

RE: ok chill !!

ok chill out 'infected'...only been on this thing two minutes and already im getting dissed!!

anyway, your right in the sense that i should let people know, but to be honest the world doesnt work like that. id rather serious people just message me so i know at least they are interested and then ill just explain everything to them.

anyway as i said if people want the full advice they can PM.

but for your help, the type of bulbs you need for the license plate - are Festoon LED bulbs. you need to buy the 6 LED bulb - so basically there are 6 small LEDs shining white light out - truly amazing!!

I have seen on ebay the 8 LED bulbs also - but i think they can be too bright.

nearly everyone in my car crew has them and between us we have only been stopped once by the police. on that occasion we explained the bulbs had the required voltage output and that they were completely road legal.

not too sure what else to say, apart from here they are..

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2x-36mm-C5W-SM...item3a57049d77

do not buy from any other person and do not be put off from it being in china. they know how to make decent LED's.

the price is also a fair reflection on the quality of the bulbs.

delivery will take two weeks so be patient like we all were! i guarantee you, you will message me back saying thanks when you get them! Lets see...

RE: license plate bulbs...

i also forgot to add that there are no warning lights that come on - obviously! i had a warning light for about 25 seconds the first time i put the car on after installing them, but the system picked it up after that fine.

I'm not sure who posted these eBay lights, but thanks!

after NUMEROUS tries, it looks like these may do the trick:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...#ht_4647wt_864

I've had them in for a month and they're still going strong with no errors.

Those bulbs wont work. They will produce errors because they don't consume 5W each, because they don't have built in resistors. Maybe your CLC computer doesn't monitor license plate lights but the W203 computer does.

Can you put up pics of your install process if you have them?

Thanks.

thanks... i'm going to give these guys a try since my hoen just burned out...

nlpamg: any comments about the seller's disclaimer?...

"There is a switch that adjust the setting from automatic or manual light. The NO ERROR LED license bulbs will not show error when it's in manual setting while in some model/year, will show error when the car is switched to the automatic setting. And the LED license bulbs still work fine even it shows error under the automatic setting."

If you would search and stop asking questions that are asked so many times no one would have a problem with you. When you have a question spend time searching for an answer that is what most members do. i have had a way more complex issue with my car for a week now and just found the answer to my question with less than an hour of reading and have already fixed it.

LOL....for all you guys who have been around for a while, youll know that a few months ago I made a HUUUUUGE deal for someone telling me to search, so I dont usually say STFF or something like that, but this guy just goes about asking the most basic questions.

Just FYI I did a search for the word 'size' in this thread and got 35 posts which answer his question.

Still think Im on my high horse?

Hey jcnash, that comment was directed at everybody. It seems as if many people have a inflated self concept of themselves on this forum. So yes, I do still think you are on that not-so-high-as-you-think horse.

RE: reply to mynameiseldin

mynameiseldin ,

It is 36mm for the light bulbs.

They will cover a range from 34-38mm sockets.

Just double check the bulbs inside the car though before you buy because mine were smaller.

jcnash,

my car does have a warning system for the number plate bulbs but i have had no problems with the bulbs.

i can only go what i know from 20 cars in my circle. out of those only 1 person has an issue and his car is 12 years old.

having said that, there are cars ranging from 12 years old to brand new and no one has this issue.

sometimes you have to just give it time. when i first put mine in i had a warning message come up. i drove around for a bit and half an hour later it was gone.

since then i have only had it come up once - and that was when we had the severe snow a few weeks back.
