Looks like there's some melted cheese all over your exhaust tips as well.. That's going to be a pain in the *** to clean up!

your exhaust will become LESS LOUD once it has melted all the touching plastic away and it has nothing to rattle against anylonger...

you should wash your car too while your at it. it was hard to determine which part was melted and which was just dirt on your car.

dude, I am not saying anything stupid - it is a fact that if an exhaust touches a plastic bumper it will melt the plastic...once the plastic is melted, the exhaust will make less rattling noises and therefore it will be less loud. There is nothing stupid about that remark, it is plain common sense.

Honestly -did you really expect that you would get serious replies with pictures of an exhaust that is installed like that? That is the biggest possible hackjob man!

now - sit back & grow up

greetingz,
Seconded. Even I professionally dremeled away 3 rear bumpers BEFORE any exhausts were mounted - its just common sense - and customers are happy. It takes literally 10 minutes to draw a pattern on clear tape with a sharpie - take your time if you have to since there's no going back. Where's Mr. Blake to chime in when he needs to? . It's YOUR bumper and YOUR exhaust, it should've been mounted the way YOU wanted it (else you didn't do your part in the research and let someone hackjob it).

For your safety c230 05, I wouldn't begin bagging on the best worldwide supplier of hard-to-find OEM mods... :\

my AMG exhaust is now touching my Carlsson rear bumper. At least it is only for a day since I'm getting the quad setup done tomorrow.

I will try it one more time - it will be the last time...I will type it down slowly this time:

an exhaust that touches a bumper rattles...something that rattles makes noise...something that used to rattle but rattles no longer makes less noise

Didn't intend for this to escalate... between the "melting cheese" and "wash your car", I lost it! LOL! The close-up of the dirty cheese reminded me of a civic saw on the way home... ya got ***** to dremmel on your benzo! Good luck with that.

Okay, maybe I can add some clarity to this thread.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think c230 05 was referring to the exhaust note sound, not necessarily noise from the muffler/tips hitting the bumper and I think Steve may have misinterpreted what you were trying to ask as far as "loudness" is concerned. If that is what you were referring to, it's possible that the exhaust note will get deeper once it settles, in but most likely not.

To c230 05 - Steve is someone that knows his stuff, so I would suggest backing off. I don't believe he meant any ill-will from what he was telling you. It also looks like he was referring to any noise you may be hearing from the melted bumper.

If I'm totally wrong and you (c230 05) were referring to noise from the muffler/tips melting the bumper, then you seriously need to look at Steve's reputability on this board and re-evaluate how you're coming at him because he is just trying to help out another MB owner like he has for MANY people on this board.

Okay, so once this is clarified, can we all just get along?...LOL

Yes, there's more than enough snipping going on. As for the muffler, I would expect they actually get slightly quieter, until they rust off anyway, as the carbon builds up inside and dampens the walls and joints.

nope - I knew what he meant...as for my reply - some call it humor - others call it sarcasm - but whatever it is called, some people can't handle it.
