The wait is agonizing!

I placed an order for a 2003 C320 wagon back in June, Pewter/Charcoal, heated and multi-contour seat(s), factory CD changer, automatic,C2,C4 and teleaid. Dealer doesn't even know when it is scheduled for production!Sucks! Just venting. I plan to get either the C7 17" rims or the non staggered AMGs. Anyone have experience with either, and what tires do you recommend? Thanks.

Have you driven a car with the 17" wheels yet? I have the C7 option on my car and have to tell ya, the 17" wheels make it drive like crap on anything other than smooth, level roads... pulls one way or the other depending on the crown in the road, follows ruts, back end feels weird in the rain (like the alignment is off, but apparently it's not)

I had planned on getting some 16" wheels/tires for winter use, now I'm wondering if maybe I should get them for year-round use...

Well, I guess that your "drive like crap" is my "handling is vastly improved", especially with the Pole Position S-03s that I just put on the C7 rims.

If you're going to get the AMG rims, though, I don't understand why you wouldn't want to get staggered, unless it's for tire rotation purposes, and that's way too practical for me to give serious consideration.

I had to wait SEVEN months for my car. Now that's agonizing. Suck it up, man.

Cheers, BT

PS: I have C7 rims. I like them. They do hunt a little bit - but that's to be expected, it doesn't bother me that much, the roads are pretty good around here.

Only if you judge "handling" by how the car responds to the road surface while driving in a straight line...

But hey, I also have a Ducati 996, and while I think it is absolutely horrible around town in traffic, some masochists think they work just fine for commuting. To each his own.

All good things come to those who wait.

PS: Do yourself a favor, put the order in for the C7 option now. It encompasses much more than just wheels. Buying the rims from the dealer will cost you more than ordering the C7 option from the factory. Personally, I think it's a steal. The bargain of all the options.

No C7, Mark0, he's waiting on a C320 wagon.

Cheers, BT

Wagon Wait

Your dealer should be able to tell you exactly when the car is sked for production, when it rolls off the line, when ready for shipment and when it arrives at POE for make ready. I ordered mine and the dealer was able to give me reqular updates when requested. You are going to love the wagon-it's worth the wait, but I would push the dealer and have him give you the PO #, in other words make sure something did'nt fall through the crack.

I know how you feel. On my Mustang convertible I went from the factory 15" to factory 16" and it was a great improvement in handling and the ride was the same. My daughter got the car and she wanted 17" so I got a deal from the dealer on take off 17" (the Bullit wheels) they look fantastic but ride like crap, you feel every litle imperfection in the road and you are right, they are more skittish. The tires are a similar 45 series as the C7. I think the people that get 18"+ have a much larger tollerance for ride comfort than we do. I would love to get 17 or 18" wheels but I'm not ready for the pain. I'm putting on 10mm spacers in the rear to push out the rear wheels and give it a bolder presence of a staggered wheel setup. That's as much as I want to do with wheels. What's really scary are the Escalades with 24" chrome wheels and rubberband tires. Not much off-roading with those tires.
