Instructions on how to take center console apart?
Anyone has instructions/pictures showing how to take the center console apart (with the cup holder, cigarette lighter, etc.)?
Maybe instructions on how to put on aftermarket dash kits would work.
And do you guys know if I will be able to access the cigarette lighter's wires after that?

Removal of center console / storage compartment.
Does anyone know how to remove the center console storage compartment on a C230K. I know if you remove the little piece of "carpet" in the lower compartment there are 2 bolts. Is that the extent of it?

there's more to it than that. You have to remove the shifter, the wood trim around the shifter, the rubber pad at the bottom of the cupholder, the cupholder. Then unclip the cigarette lighter housing and remove the sliding cover. Then remove the ashtray, the center vent assembly, the wood trim around the radio. There's two bolts behind the shifter, the two screws in the storage bin, two cam screws at the front of the console. Then be REALLY careful separating the console from the dash, it has a tendency to hang up.

Center console trim removal
Anyone know how to remove the center console trim (the trim around the gearshift and the cupholder)? When my car was in the shop last time, they didn't re-wire the lighting for the auto gearshift (to display what gear you're in) so I want to fix it.

Session, open the ashtray door, grasp the front of the the trim piece and jerk it straight up. Then pull it slightly toward the dash so the back of the piece comes out from under to console.
Now, how do I latch the clips above the ashtray?

You mean the little metal clasps connecting the trim around the radio/HVAC? If you look closely, there are "hooks" that they connect to. It took me a while to align those metal things and you have to push them back pretty firmly to get them to snap onto the hooks, but they'll eventually get there. Just make sure the clasps are alligned properly and they should just snap back in place.
Sorry I don't have pictures, but when I installed my stereo I didn't remove the ashtray and thus there was no room to even take a picture.

You shouldn't need to remove everything to reconnect the plug to the shifter console. Use a credit card to wedge between the shifter plate and wood (or alum) trim and twist slowly. Work around the bezel and it should pop up. The socket for the wire is on the underside of the bezel. If the loose wire and connector is visible in the space below, it should be easy to pull the wire up and reconnect it to the bezel. Then snap the bezel back in place.
You can remove the wood trim as noted above. But that might not be necessary if the loose wire is visible through the shifter hole.

If you really meant the center console (rear of the shifter, the ashtray and storage compartment), I'm afraid I've never seen a good post on that. I looked into removing it myself when I was installing my stereo, and I never figured out how to remove all the parts.
Generally, when someone wants to remove the center console, they have a reason, like to install a device inside the console. Sometimes there is a good way to install the thing without completely removing the center console. If you can describe what you are trying to do in detail, there may be someone who has a good method for you.
Bear in mind, though, that I have never seen anyone describe how to remove the whole center console.
