Car won't start after accident?
We got an 05 C230 Kompressor in today with damage to driver and passenger door. The handle is also damaged. We can unlock the car and do everything as it should with the remote key fob. The car gets power and music plays, all electrical components works.
BUT, the car won't crack.... does anyone know how to fix this? |
go to a bodyshop and fix your car. then, go to the dealer and they will figure it out.

oh duh, why didn't I just thought of that. I think anyone coulda figured that out. We are a body shop, just looking for some advise. Figured someone may be a Mercdedes specialist here. |
Something must have been bumped that turns the engine over. check that the plugs are in all the way in.
|
thanks, we're gonna start on the car on Monday, by then we should be able to look into more details. We had an 02 W203 that had front end damage but cranked right up. Also an 02 S430 with doors damange that we recently finished that had similar problem, but it was the connection @ the battery. The C doesn't have that fuse @ the battery cable.
|
I actually meant the spark plugs...But good luck
|
I highly doubt that it's the plugs. The car won't crank @ all, even when jumped.
|
Some cars should have a gasoline valve that closes after an impact so the car won't go up in flames, so if it doesn't crank up could be that, nothing against you but your bodyshop doesn't seem to be very familiar with MB I guess... kinda scary.
|
Body shops usually don't know much about mechanical, mechanics usually don't know much about body works.
As long as they do a good job on the body works, I know a Benz and BMW specialist that can check it out. I would rather not go that route if someone here can help. |
Did you check my suggestion?
|
I'm not at the shop now. Will check it out.
However, not only that the car doesn't start, it doesn't crank at all. No power going to the starter. |
call your local dealership perhaps? That's the first thing I would do...

Have you checked to make sure the car is fully in park or neutural. Even though the shift indicator may say its in park, but it may have been damaged in the accident. Also do the lights on the gauge cluster light up when you turn the key? AIRBAG/ABS/CHECK ENGINE/ ECT.

I'd check everything. If a car doesn't start, it's usually either a dead battery, dead starter, or no fuel delivery. Can you turn the electronics on? Can you switch on the fuel pump?
Thanks but my father found out that there is a power source box (about 4" wide by 6" high) that the positive battery cable that blows when the airbags go off. |

car
cable has power comming in and power comming out

Now that I think about it, inside the cabin there IS a fuse box on the left side of the dash facing the drivers door. I can't remember from the top of my head if there are any critical fuses in there which will allow the car to start. Pop that sucker open and check those fuses. That's the only other thing I could think of.
