Unhappy Got this in the Mail...........

from Parking Violations Bureau City of Los Angeles

paraphasing: record shows that I failed to response to a parking ticket.

I dont remember i've gotten one. it seems to be a "display of plates" ticket.
Sould I just pay for it? or can i do something about it? And i dont even
remember if I went to that specific street that it says in the letter. Have
no idea. just wanted to ask u guys.

I got one of those...either pay it in full or go to a police stations, show them you put it on, and pay only $15 (or the discounted price)

Except if you decide to go the fix-it route, don't actually mount the plate. Use some double sided tape to make it look like you did, then remove it after the officer signs it off.

It's happened twice in LA where we've gotten a ticket yet not known about it til later; it seems that LA county is in the habit of giving out electronic tickets, then sending them to you. Of course telling them you didn't get the mail (because you do tend to notice an envolope marked "TRAFFIC VIOLATION" or whatever) won't do jack. On both occasions our first indication that we even had a ticket was the second notice of failure to pay. If they're going to use this system they'd better figure out a way such that payees have a real oppertunity to pay up. Of course this works out better for them, but I'm surprised that someone hasn't brought up a class-action against LA county for this sort of behavior. It's possible that the postal service is screwing things up, but twice for two tickets? I can't give you the odds against that but I can tell you they're probably pretty high. Has anyone else had this experience?

LA does suck when it comes to small things like that. i remember i was in japantown and it was around 1am at a bar. i parked in at a meter, which was not red and you obviously don't put any money at this hour, i came back and got a fix it ticket for not front plates. it was ridiculous.

I've heard that you don't get these tickets if you actually have a front license plate on your car.

It seems that the same LA gang who picks pockets with unconstitutional red light cameras and has a group of 'not a real cop' gang members who extort funds for not having a mark on the front of the vehicle so they know where to send the red light tickets. Soon they want to add unmanned radar tickets to their criminal enterprise, and that technology will work about as well as the rest of government. It will, however, be very effective at making collections. Politicians get some of there best ideas from watching the Soprano's on HBO.

Want to fight back? Tell your state and city representatives you will give them a pink slip at the next election if they continue to be gang members.
