Windshield

I cracked my windshield today I am wondering the approx price for a replacement. Any of you repair/bad luck forums browsers like myself have any clue what I'm looking at? I already had a buddy stop by my office that does windshield repair and he said it's a no-go due to the 14" length of the crack right by the edge.

Any help with this little gem is really appreciated.

If the damage was due to a road hazard, your insurance might take care of it without it affecting your deductible. Otherwise, you are looking at anything up to and past a grand. Your buddy should be able to give you a price.

Just had a new windshield put on the wagon today. Pricey too. I have a no deductible policy for comprehensive, so AAA is taking care of the $600 glass.

I let a Mercedes Certified body shop do the install because I have rain sensor wipers, and it is embedded in the glass from the factory.

The gorilla snot that holds the glass in place needs 24 hours to cure before you move the car, or get it wet.

Since they have a great paint booth and a little time, I had them shoot some white on the rash on the lower front bumper that scrapes the driveway aprons.

A coat of Meguiar's #28 wax, and it looks much better than new!

Yeah from what I've been finding out it looks as though it needs to go back home for a few days. Unfortunately I have the wiper sensor in there too so they're the only ones I trust to do the work.

I'm just trying to avoid going to the dealership because I'm worried I'll come home with a C55 or E500. I need more power captain!

I received the invoice today. The price was not that bad...if someone wants to charge $ 1200. show them this from an authorized dealer. This is for a 2005 C class with rain sensor in the top center of the glass.
