Question Various engine Specs Question

Various Engine Specs
I'm trying to learn some specifics (bore, stroke, basic architecture) about the M-B engines. I am of the opinion that the 2.6,3.2 V6's and the 4.3, 5.0 V8's are of the same family 3 valve engines and the 2.5, 3.5 V6's and the 4.5, 5.5 V8's are of the same family 4 valve engines. Is this correct?

I emailed the customer service on the M-B website and Heidi wrote me back and suggessted I subscribe to Startech at a hefty fee. All I want is basic info: bore, stroke, #valves, other releventent specs. BMW, Audi is very open about this, I wonder why M-B (Heidi) was not forth coming?
If anyone knows this info or knows where to obtain it I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks
Jim

Try Google search, advanced, exact phrase, "mercedes-benz engine spec" - or variations on that?

Bet it won't take you a half-hour to find a source....

I've seen 'em somewhere....

Thanks,

All I could find was the 320 and 430 are the same except for number of cylinders. Everybody there wants to sell you an engine or parts.

They were actually ML's. I can't understand why M-B doesn't have this info readily available

Actually, the 320 engine found in the E Class is almost identical to that found in the C and the ML. They both have the same bore and stroke, thus leading to an identical compression ratio. The only thing that is different is the horsepower rating, torque rating, and fuel consumption. Ironically, the C320 drinks more fuel than the E320... while generating less hp and torque.

But the engine block is virtually identical. The other tappets and gimmicks to the engine are not.
