white and whiter
i've post some question on that thread just now.
i guess i'll post on here too.
1. would i need different connectors if i already have the xenon headlight?
2. will the auto leveling system work after replacement?
3. how does the Bi-xenon actually works? i'm assuming the two different xenon bulbs (high and low) use the same projector lens and the original halegen high beam will came on as well.
if someone can help answering, much appreciated.

Bi Xenons work with a small servo that moves a mirror or a shutter that opens between two chambers.
Basically, you have one bulb. It is either shining direct and has a prism that shoots light off to the other opening. This prismatic conduit is normally shuttered. Pulling on brights opens the shutter... this is the old way.
New way, has the xenon bulb mounted over a servo that holds a small mirror which simply shines the light at a different angle.
There are typically still halogen bulbs onboard for flash to pass. This is also the reason why hibeam is not done by seperate bulb.. you see, xenon takes the better part of 5-7 seconds to get up to perfect light output and during the first 1 second is completely worthless (but fun to watch flare into life).

I ordered a set as well...should be getting it soon. MBenz is great with hard-to-get items (like blinking W210 mirrors for W202's..hehe)...I've ordered many things through him, and he's always willing to help out. From what i've read, seems like these headlights should fit w/o having to get a new harness...you just have to go to the dealer to have them reprogram the computer to recognize the HIDs.
btw, he responded to the question in another thread:

The connectors/wiring is the same for both Halogen and Xenon lights. In my case I have tried a set of Bi Xenon lights on a 2001 C200k and that worked perfectly.
The malfunction code for a faulty bulb does show but can easily be reprogrammed by the dealership. This faultcode only concerns the low beam because the high beam is still the same 55W bulb as before in combination with a switched over reflector for the Xenon bulb (bi Xenon).
I have shipped out a set to the states today and will ship out 2 other sets the first half of next week, so I presume all other possible questions to 2003 Bi Xenon headlights on pre 2003 W203s will be answered soon...

He doesn't have any for the coupe at this time...he only has 4 sets for the sedans. I'm sure if he gets them in he'll let you guys know (there's been a few people that's asked him about getting them for the coupes).

Install it yourself.. it shouldn't be hard...i'll take pics of the install after i get it.
The color of the bi-level will probably be similar to the regular xenon lights.

Young: If i finish my C280 project, I will drive that...if not, then I will take the C320 (at this time, it's looking like the C320 will make it to the meet).
E_Corleone: The meet is scheduled for 9/21 or 9/22 in Edison, NJ. Feel free to come out!! A bunch of Benzsport and MBworld members are going to meet at a dealer there (where they will hopefully have a bbq, give away some stuff like hats and t-shirts, etc). It's only a 10 hour drive, right?

I checked my halogen wiring and its identical to the xenon assy....I'm just missing the plug(s) for the auto-leveling servos....I checked my car and it/they are not there....I wonder if the plug(s) are buried somewhere or if it can be hooked up with new wiring????
Quote from MBenzNL "The leftside 5-pin connector is the standard headlight connector, the right top 4-pin is to activate the levelling motors, the bottom 6-pin connector is for additional Xenon purpose (levelling) and is to be found on all Xenon equipped models but the headlights work perfectly without these being hooked up".
this pic is of the new Bi-Xenon assy from MBenzNL as well:

So if the dealer won't install them for you, does this mean that it will void the warranty. I imagine since we'd have to take it in to get reprogrammed that they would not....but I'm probably wrong otherwise I'm sure none of you would do it. Can someone explain why it wouldn't void the warranty. Thank You

I don't see why the dealer wouldn't install them ?
They're MB parts
Plus even if you swap the light assy yourself, they're MB parts - so what can they say ?

Well I'm not sure what they would say but I'm sure they could come up with something. Like, its not factory installed equipment, or it wasn't installed by a MB Tech, or in my case, since I have halogen headlamps, the equipment isn't appropriate for the car. I don't know what they could say or if any of the above is legitimate, I just want to make sure an issue wouldn't ase out of the replacement. Thanks Alot

Also Federal regs require that all HID's have an auto-leveling system. Since the 2001's and 2002's don't have the wiring harness to use the auto-leveling devices built into the headlight assemblies, it is also illegal to install HID's from that standpoint.

Wow, I suppose that is a drawback, but seriously how would anyone find out and fine me. But, would my warranty be voided, I don't care about its legality. If I installed myself, I'd still have to take it in to get it reprogramed, so upon seeing the new headlights would my warranty be voided. Thanks
