My friend has an '06 325i bmw and keeps rubbing in my face that his car is gonna beat my soon '07 c230 sedan which im getting late august. I really want to beat him and i know his car is about 25 hp more than mine. So i think if i just put a powerchip i might beat him, his car is auto while mine is stick, what ya guys think?

buy a used c32. costs you less than a new C230 and you won't have to worry at all. check classifieds - psk is selling his i believe.

no way you can beat his 325i, you can get a c280 or c350 then its a def that you gonna beat him.

my friend has a 04 330xi and he tells me his car is faster, his 225hp vs mine 215hp/221hp i can still fly him lol good luck man

First of all i have no choice but getting that car, plus it's a lease. so u guys think that if i only add a powerchip it won't be enough? btw, i was looking at the powerchip at some sites, and none had them under the '07, they were all saying for '02-'06, do you guys think it will work on my car?

i was just asking if adding a powerchip would be enough to beat him, i doubt this particular subject has been covered before. I understand that using a search function is a great idea, but it wouldn't find me the answer i need.

btw, i was looking at a couple of the advertisements that mbworld has, and all the parts under w203 end at '06, i know that the '07 is brand new, but would most of the '06 mods work on the '07? i think they are but i just want to be sure before i order anything.

You rent an 07 at the beginning of the MY and instantly expect to have ready made answers to your questions. You don't even have possession of the rental and yet start whining about getting whipped.
Why don't you start with searching what happens to modded rentals on returns; and if you have $$$ for mods why not just nip it in the butt and get something bigger.

hmm..from what i understand the 07 and the 06 are the exact same cars, except for the 07's FLEX ability. so any mod for the 06 should work for the 07. actually i didnt know there were mods for the 2.5 V6 yet. but short answer? yes he should beat you. if you are leasing why not lease the c280 or c350? the c280 would be a better match and the c350 will beat him for sure, heck even if he had a 330i a c350 should beat him. you have 'no choice in getting the car" ???

djartin, I don't know why you have to get this model, maybe your company is leasing it for you, but I think you need to stop getting into a pissing match with your buddy and his 325i. Just let him know, "yes, your BMW is quicker, but I enjoy my car more every day", because you will. Whether it is a C230, a C55 or any other MBZ, these cars have a great overall feel that is more satisfying to drive than most other cars. Even the Toaster Testers at Consumers Union had to pipe in on the subject.

we all know we dont have a super machine here. anything less than an AMG isnt a beast. but you WILL love and enjoy your car. most of us here have. for me, i could care less, sure power is great but unless i can afford a c55 i am more than happy to live with what i do have. nothing beats the exterior or even interior for that matter of this car for it's price range. my friends are on my case all the time but i dont let it get to me. i know what i have and i have not one regret. no chance i would ever trade this in for a "new-er" bmw or that mazda looking IS350. but, if you must have speed and cant afford it, i suggest a civicSIR or integra typeR and rice it up.

i had an e46 M3 and everyone in the world wanted to race me. you know what? i never raced. i barely used the 333HP. bottom-line is that most people talk a big game but in the end, they never need or use their HP...its typical male bragging and i am not immune. i love to say i have XXX HP.

yes, the e46 M3 was beautiful and fun...but so isn't the C230, and i get better mpg without worrying about another S54 engine recall or gazillion dollar transmission problem.

speed and power is a small percentage of the overall car's value.

if you want to beat people then buy an ///M or AMG...or a friggin dodge viper.

the only time i really miss the M3 is on highway on-ramps. now, if i had a local track then i prolly would never have got rid of the M3 in the first place.

the C230 is simply beautiful. you get a lot for the money and i love how MB gives the buyer AMG looks for a bargain...relatively speaking.

people might be faster than you, but just sit back in a very quiet comfy cabin, smile, and relish the fact that you're in a benz...that's cool enough.

my friend is the same way with his bmw (he has an auto 04 325xi) and always saying how much better/faster his car is. i was also looking at 3 series before buying my car and i did chose a benz for a reason and its not for speed. if you want speed then get a mustang or a dodge srt-4. hes a good friend so i let it slide and eventually he stopped with the annoying comments.

my friend is a race kinda guy and hes mod crazy also, he looked at a E55 amg but ended up buying a 05 SRT-10, it was way out of his price range

I told him that theres a c55amg (he though the c32 was still in)

If you think C230 is too slow for you, then just get C280 or C350.
If you buget is in the c230 range, then get a used C320 or C32.
But, just buy the car that you like and will enjoy it, don't buy it just because you wanna be faster than your freind.

The C230 is a luxo cruiser. You kind of have to forfeit the idea of racing and enjoy it for it's style, ride, build quality and autobahn like handling.
