02 c240 outside temperature gauge
Hi guys i searched but didnt see anything pertaining to the outside temperature guage being off.
My dad just got this car, and it said it was 100 degrees today in oc. it was about 79 or so? is this an easy fix? does it need tweaking? is it getting extra heat from the engine bay causing erroneous readings?
please help.

This is a pretty common problem. I have an 06 C230 SS, and in 5 months the outside temp guage was already faulty.
The best thing to do is go to your dealership and have them change it out if it's still under warranty. It's a pretty easy fix, so there's nothing to worry about.

...Or, check to see if the sensor is properly situated in it's mount. It is a small piece of black plastic about the size of a pencil eraser. It should protrude 1/4 in from its mounting hole in the location drex noted. If it has fallen out of it's mount, it will give inaccurate readings. It simply snaps back in place.

just wanted to update you guys. thanks alot for all your information, i found the sensor and put it back in it's hole works fine now. the confusing part was not knowing how it should acutally poke out of hte bumper like that. and taht it is easier to turn the wheel and access the front fog light area from the fender area.
