I have a 2002 C240 and I was wondering if the phones I see on Ebay are compatible. I've seen the Timeport and the V60. I don't care about the voice activation but I would like the other options to work IE:steering wheel etc. Do I need anything else besides the phone and plug or is there something else I need to buy/install? Thanks

According to this site, you'll need the install kit and the completer kit and cradle kit (as well as a MB/Motorola phone).
Mercedes V60 kit
I believe the MB V60's have a different firmware...if you don't have that phone, most of the functions won't work when you plug it into the car.

So (SLK_BOY) as far as you know the Phone, cable, and the cradle kit isn't enough to use the steering wheel controls. I thought the phone (as long as it's the MB phone) had the software in it that downloads the phone book and allows you to scroll though the numbers and dial from the steerwheel? Thanks for your help.

You need the entire kit, not just the cradle, cord kit and Mercedes/Motorola branded phone. The most important part of the kit is the PSE (Phone Support Electronics). The PSE is basically the brain that interconnects with the fiber system and tells the phone system how to operate and get along.

I just had my C230K done with the MB Timeport. I've been watching the ebay auctions and haven't seen one complete kit come up yet. The handsets that they sell can be used but there's still about $1000. (msrp) parts (plus add about $450. if you want voice recognition) that you'll need to complete the install + about an hour of dealer shop time unless you want to install it yourself.
You may want to check with your MB salesman - I did and he hooked me up with an installer that did the whole Timeport phone install in my driveway with voice in just about 1 hour.

That's why I waited until after I picked up the car. I was able to get it all done for about $1000. including the voice module - still a little high but much better than the $2400. or so that the dealer wanted.
