What kind of deals do you people think I'd get if I wait for the 2008 Cs to come out, and buy a 2007 C that dealerships will try to get rid of? I'm 21y/o, so I'm saving as much as I can for a down payment to have a lower auto loan rate, and will be buying brand new. I am not sure if I like the 2008 C Class (they should've kept the circular headlights), and I only have until Spring of next year before I can buy a brand new C230, before the redesigned 08s replace the C Classs that I like.
I heard that buying new cars in December is also a good time for deals. But I don't know if to wait until December, or when 2008 models arrive.

You will get the best deal, price wise as well as financing, once the '08's hit the showrooms. I got 1.9% financing as well as a decent discount on my '06 because the '07's came in.

Yeah, 1.9%. I don't know if it is still offered for the '06, but when I bought mbusa.com only listed 2.9% on the website. However, the salesman said 1.9% was available, so I jumped on it. I get more interest on my savings accounts, so I didn't put anything down either. I think you'll be able to get the 2007s for half off then, maybe only $16-17K for a brand new one
Kidding aside, what's the difference, they are probably not going to over-inventory 2007 in anticipation of the 2008. Car manufacturers manage their inventory pretty accurately. They already know what to expect on new model rollouts. Yes, you always get a better deal when dealers are trying to get rid of inventory nobody else wants to make room for inventory that sells, be it a new model or the right color and options, they do this all year round. The problem is you get a very limited choice in color and options, mostly the colors and options others don't want. Just like with clothes in a dept store, the blowout end of season sales usualy are odd size, colors that they couldn't sell so they blow them out. You can do the same exact thing now with 2006 cars and get about 5-6K off, won't be any different next year. I paid $25K for my 2004.5 when the 2005's came out in June 2004, my choice was very limited and I had a factory $1,500 coupon.

What Buellwinkle says is true. I lucked out, they happened to have a black c230s w/sunroof on the showroom floor, exactly what I wanted. The rest of the c230's they had in inventory I would not have bought.Originally Posted by Buellwinkle

December is one of the best times to buy any vehicle, except a 4x4 in snow areas. The reason being they want to get rid of as much inventory as possible before the year ends for tax reasons. Not to mention to get rid of old stock that has been on there floor plans for a long period of time.

The best day to buy a car is perhaps on January 3rd, that's when Mercedes-Benz closes its books. All of the cars they sell that year are calculated and then their allocation and their discount off invoice pricing (holdback) is based on how many cars they sold.

technically Germany automotive year ends in early June, and between June/July and August they're pushing out next models for delivery between September and October for the coming year because the whole August German factories are on vacations while making changes in the entire assembly line to produce the new car.
BEST time to buy will be July and August because this is when the manufacturer offer the most incentive to the dealership for previous old models. Dealerships doesn't want people to know, but it's just a fact.
January is when MBUSA ends it's fiscal year which you may be able to get MBUSA incentives, but not much.
also do not buy brand new model year car in September OR October because you are most likely going to get stiffed with a car that was produced 4 months earlier while the factory is making changes. They can have 2008 models ready as early as June 2007.

My dealership told me the APR goes back to normal from 2.9% after July 31st, that is what we did not ask for below invoice when we purchased the c230 late July.Originally Posted by ams_sim
