You are sooooooo freaking insane! COOL! What scares me is that you probably went out and took that picture just for this thread!

The driver of the A4 Quattro I pulled over 10 lengths on in a cloverleaf would beg to differ. He was highly pissed. Maybe he needs to attend a drivers' school.
I would agree that the car handles like crap if the ESP is on.

Some of you guys just kill me. I've been driving German cars for the past 10 years. Do you really think the manufacturers put 'sucky' suspensions on there cars in a land where even the old folks drive more than 80mph?. Not!!!!
I've learned the hard way that just because your car sits lower and looks 'cool' dosen't mean it REALLY handles better. There is no substitut for suspension travel. Just ask a rally driver.
The coup will cruise all day at 130+ with the stock suspension and your butt won't hurt at the end of the drive either. But...if you want to mess with it go ahead...just don't knock MB....I could be wrong but I think they have been tuning suspension longer then most of us
Enjoy the threads.
BTW: Whoever posted how to make the alarm chirp was right on although I had to show the dealer how to do it..

I just hit 130 in the coupe the other night... Car seems capable of doing much more.. wasn't paying much attention to the RPM's...
but i easily hit 130.. damn mustang wanted a piece (it was an older stang V6) so i popped around him gunned it and bye bye.. the guy prolly ran his mustangs engine to the ground, cuz it seemed like he couldn't keep up worth $h!t... The coupe seems pretty stable at 130... when i had my 3series at 125 it was gaspin (but i wore that car to the bone too)...

I loved the interior of the A4, and the styling, but in the end, I didn't want a Sedan.

Do NOT try that at home based upon my experience, it's not the best idea I ever had.

Ha, resurrecting a 10 year old thread that I started. Time has passed.....
My suspension has been replaced...twice. I've done 130 3 times. Loved it.
I've put 182K miles on the vehicle.
But don't go 130 anymore. Too risky. I don't want to lose my license and have my car impounded.
I was only at around 4500 rpm at 130. And pulling hard.
Top speed on a C230 in Italy was listed as 153 no limiter. I'd like to see that. Anyone?

Back when i had mine i did a hair over 130, once or twice. Back when the c coupe website was up there were some members from europe saying they toped out at about 155.
Dont know what they were in europe at the time but 2002 model in states had a 2.4L with a smigit more power than 1.8 of 2003 and up while using less boost. Swaping a pully on 2002 model made it a tad faster that stock 320s.

Out Of Control!!
Holy bringing threads back from the dead, Batman!
I think I've cracked 80 a couple of times. Don't really see much reason to do more on public roads, honestly - I don't need to compensate for deficiencies elsewhere.

Doing such speeds on public roads, is one thing. I've personally did it only on a 4 lane highway with no cars around. Others may not be as cautious, and thats their choice.
But with the compensate statement you just look like you are trying to make yourself feel better.

But I also don't think that those speeds are appropriate on our ever-worsening public roads here, either. If everyone could sign a waiver saying that, should they wreck their car at such high speeds, they would waive their rights to emergency care, to suing anyone or any body due to injuries/damages caused, and would guarantee that no innocent bystanders would be harmed, sure, that would be great. I don't find that realistic, though, which is why higher speeds should be limited to restricted areas, imho.
We just had a fatality up here last week where two guys were pushing their cars on a highway early in the morning above 100mph, both of which being M3s with owners who apparently have years of experience. One of them is now dead - one-car wreck (no reason listed). To me that's both a shame and poor decision-making.

NP, im touchy because many people here have a tendency of puting others down and i just cant stand it anymore. one of the reaosn i dont post much even though ive been here for a long time.
I do agree with you on time and place, but person is smart, people are stupid.
Unfortunately this will happen no matter what. unless cars are limited to 50mph.
On the other hand it is always fun to be able to know what the limits of your vehicle are. Maybe if there was a more accessable places for general publick to do these sort of things, people would keep it off the streets.

so if its auto with 5 then maybe thats why. if it was manual then it probably had one more gear to go to after this.

Seriously the car is limited to 130 in the US, but in Europe, was not limited and was rated at over 150 mph. I saw it on the Italian mercedes website back in the day, and most definitely my car was not redlined at 130.
It's hit the limiter and just bangs on it, won't go any faster, so if you push the pedal to the floor, yeah it'll downshift, rev out, but just thats it.
BTW- I did it on a super smooth 4 lane road, with no one around.
People in Europe drive that fast all the time,
We're just pussies in the US. ooooo I went 130.
Big hairy f'in deal.
Watch the video of Captain slow going 260 in a Veyron.

Just curious if people are willing to admit the fastest they've gotten their c230 coupes up to.
When I'm on the freeway with no other cars around, even 85 feels positively slow.
I've found myself doing 100 without even realizing it!
This is with the c7 wheels and tires....which seems to smooth out as the speed increases.
It's decieving since with the stock suspension (sucky) you could be in trouble, if you didn't remember just how sucky the suspension is, or how fast you were going.
Sometime soon, I plan to upgrade the springs etc. once people decide which is really the way to go. So far, the best review I saw was for Kleeman springs and stock shocks!
But them Kleeman springs cost as much a springs and shocks from other companies. Hmmmmm.......

Sadly I sold my Speed3 that will top out at 155MPH (Governed) and I had it to 135MPH and could still drive it with one finger! I just bought a used C230 a month ago and already have it for sale because it is cheaply made and an absolute dog! 4cyl Supercharged? Please I can barely make it up a hill without downshifting. I got it up to 100MPH but it was redlining and just had no more power.

I'm not sure what you're expecting, either out of your new car, or in responses to your odd first post.

Just because I answer a guys question (somebody asked you a question? You mean me? The original author is this thread?) doesn't mean YOU, my friend, need to get your panties in a wad. Is that how this forum works? Don't offend the masses? Dude the Speed3 4cyl will run circles around ANY C230!
Oh and WHY do I need to go that fast anyway unless driving through Wyoming on I-80.
![drive](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/driving.gif)
how you hate it, and miss your Mazda.
Uh, this is THE Mercedes forum eh? You fail to recognize that I was the guy in 2002 who's question you feel compelled to answer, that it does mean ME, and you don't answer anything.
You doubt others ability to reach 130, tell everyone how much you love your old car (so why sell it?) all in your 1st post?
And then say, 'why do I need to go that fast' Indeed. Why?
Why reply to this particular thread at all? It makes no sense.
We call that a TROLL. Someone who posts simply to inflame people,
or just posts nonsensical spewing, with no merit or value to the forum.
![word](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/werd.gif)
So, if you are not a troll, perhaps you have something of value to add elsewhere in the forum. But somehow, I doubt it, just based on your 1st post.
Yes, is it sad that you sold your Mazda. Sad for us.
100 mph in the Mercedes,
or the 155 you were driving your hot, Mercedes **** kicking Mazda?
Why indeed! Wow, are you confused. Is that why sold the fast Mazda,
because you were tired of driving 155 in Wyoming and running
circles around C230's, so you figured, you'd buy a C230 and complain how slow it
is, while at the same time asking the members of the forum,
why you need to drive that fast?
Why....indeed. Better you should ride a bicycle.
Step away from the Troll...slowly....
I can see where this is going.
Good luck with your slow car!! (Assuming you actually have one)
Perhaps you could start again, by posting an introduction
(outside this thread since you have nothing of value to add here)
about yourself, and your car and we can all start fresh.
Or get that Mazda back while you still can and join the Mazda forum.
