Hi everyone,
I have just recently had a DVD/in-dash monitor installed, more specifically the Kenwood KVT910DVD model. Everything is great except for a post installation problem. I'm not talking about loosing my steering wheel volume control, that i can live without, but i'm talking about the instrument cluster. Let me explain, you know how when you first put in your key (at position 1), you can scroll thru the menu, now i have to click my key to position two before it becomes functional. This creates a big problem (at least the one that i've noticed so far). Now it's unable to check engine oil level, it keeps on telling me to "switch ignition on", in other words the computer thinks that it's still in position 1 so it messages to switch to position 2 even though it is already in position 2. I brought the car back to the installer but they have no idea what's wrong. So please all you MB experts out there help me, or those who have installed after market systems in their cars, do you have similar problems?

well we need to know what car it is. But it would seem hard to believe that a stereo install could cause a oil monitor problem. I would take it to the dealer and say nothing about the stereo

one question: did you have your stereo installed by a shop that specializes in mercedes? if not you are gambling with your electrical system BIG time. i wouldnt go to just any old stereo shop to do an install on an MB. they should know that car from top to bottom before ever putting their hands on it, i have heard WAY to many MB audio horror stories.
