What happens when you park your Mercedes on the street
ok so this happened like 8 months ago but i thought that u guys might want to see this.
so heres the deal, at my house in LA we only have room for one car in the car port. so while the ML is in there, we have to park my moms '04 c240 on the street.
but thats ok because we live in studio city which is one of the safest neighborhoods in la.
now the neighborhoods has had egging problems (some kids egg nice cars in the neiborhood every few months).
but this time it was amped up.
at 3am they went though our neiborhood with a baseball bat and smashed some car windows. a pt cruiser, corvette, new charger, a bmw. and my moms c240.
really sad to have happen.
my moms car got the worst of it out of the whole lot.
(around 8k worth of damage)
both left doors had to be replaced because of denting to the window housing, seats had to be replaced due to tiny bits of glass,
insurance covered most of it, but the car will never be the same.
police did a stake-out a few days later.
sadly they never caught the guys.
but i put a cam up looking out to the street where our loaner car was the following night, and a pickup truck drives buy at 3am, a guy gets out of passenger side, looks around, i think he saw me at the window because i was checking the tape at the very time, got back in the car and squealed off. never got a plate
here are the pics.

that' really sucks
that's why I don't wanna park my car on the street especially in Long Beach.
But if I was in San Diego(La Jolla) or Irvine, that's different story, it's one of the savest city

Damm, I'm never leaving the O.C..... I could never understand why anyone would want to live in any part of LA. My kid lives there because of her job as an actress but otherwise, we wouldn't let her outside the orange curtain.

Horrible! and I know how you feel. My parents just moved to a "high end" neighborhood and the first few months we've been here we've had kids knocking on windows late at night, knocking down mailboxes, throwing brick pavers at house windows. I was honestly shocked at how bad this subdivision is with things like that, we used to live about 15 miles south of here and there were never any problems like that there even though its known as a worser area. But anyways, one day i noticed my car egged and i knew that it had to be those same kids that go through the subdivision vandalizing and since they know that the people just call the cops and by then they're already gone they think they arent going to get caught. Oh no no, not me, i dont call the police, i stayed up the next night staring throught my window with a wooden spindle set up outside the garage door and i catch 2 kids running across our lawn from my bedroom window at about 4 am and i run downstairs grab the spindle and hide behind my mom's pacifica and wait for them to get closer. Of course they start coming up to my dads car with a carton of eggs and i jump out from behind the car...yelling out words my mommy told me never to say to a person ...and chased then with the spindle, they got away because i was in my pajamas and socks..but they never came back again after that because they must have thought i was crazy

That's the trouble with the laws. I personally think if another person is doing harm to yourself or your property you should have the right to protect those things with whatever means possible without any recourse. If you had seen these guys doing this and went outside and shot them, you would be the one in trouble. If you were able to shoot them they might think twice before doing something this ignorant. Good luck, hope the cops catch these a**holes.

heard some noise one night and peeked out. saw hood figures crouched along
and under the 00 E320. called 911 to report an on-view car prowl and gave
best description. within mins, there were 4 squad cars, including a big ***
german shepherd dog.....then a medic unit to take care of the idiot who refused
to stop running and had to be tackled and had an owie. apparently they were
after the AMG monobloc rims. great response time. was lucky - no damage.
car is in the garage from now on.
shooting someone to protect property is, for the most part, idiocy, I opine. that
is what insurance is for. putting out the dog, kicking his ***...is more approp.

The same crap happened to my sister's beater a few months back. Her boyfriend at the time and I were staking out but luckily them jackasses never came back otherwise it woulda been a good .
Of course the cops were of no help. Didn't even want to come out to take a report. I live in a upper-middle class neighborhood so my guess is the vandals were some bored rich kids.

All the glass can be replaced of course, but you'll never, ever get all the broken glass out of the car. I mean years later you'll still be finding little specs of glass here and there. Such an awful thing to happen. When they catch people who do these sort of things they should have something dear to them destroyed in addition to losing a little freedom.

When vandals stole several dozen eggs from Alberson's, Newport Beach police took 90 econds to arrive and take the report for a $10 theft, but when car owners called to report damageto their vehicles, the police response is "we cannot do anything unless we see it happening."
I was sorry to read about the extensive damage to your moms car. The money is nothing compared to your impaired feeling of safety in your home.
