Shift Timer!??

Shift Timer!??
Hey guys, I was F-ing around with my car today, Opened the windows, music off, ran on tiptronic. no cars were around, but I hard shifted from 1 up. and around right before the redline, i heard "beep beep beep" a quick 3 beeps. and it automatically shifted up.
I said to myself wtf!? so i gunned it again, on 2nd, and before the redline, i heard "beep beep beep" again, and it shifted to 3rd.
I STOPPED. put the car on park, shut it off, started back up, drove on tiptronic again, ...same... BEEP BEEP BEEP right before redline. coming from inside the hood i suppose.
Is this a shift timer? after my car was bought in for service, the shift pattern was diff, even when I try to do the "reset" (on position, pedel to the metal, off, etc, u know the process).
so the question....is thre a shift timer?

I'm gonna try that again today. but its kinda weird, i never really noticed anything b/c i always have music on. but its just this quick 3 "beeps" right before redline.

Not only does Porsche have a Tiptronic, but in the new 911 Turbo, the tip is quicker 0-60 than the manual. Weird, eh?

advan, so ur saying that i can be in "manual" mode, floor the pedal, and the car will AUTOMATICALLY shift up when i touch redline? 
now that blows 
an auto will always be an auto... i wished that i bought a clutch

hahah yes, when u redline it (i hear a beep beep beep right before it) and once it redlines it shifts up. yeap auto is always an auto. I wanted a c320 coupe 6 speed. but they did not have in stock. they only had autos. they had a silver c230 coupe, but i wanted black. so poo.

Seems like an engine protection thing to me. Just to prevent people from redlining their cars. There is one way to eliminate that and thats changing the program or getting a manual. I am a little bias towards the second one.
