Turbo??
The hard answer (for your wallet)? Yes. But no, 3-4K doesn't cover the cost. And you've gotta be pretty damn commited for a project like that (and find a reputable shop with an in-house tuner). WHAT?! ;D.
To elaborate, okay so I have this turbo kit sitting next to me. Hm? Keep the charger: Y/N? Find bigger injectors: Y/N? Find a tuner who can tune the bigger injectors and the whole setup: Y/N? Fabricate an entirely new turbo manifold that will fit the (pretty much custom one-off) turbo? Let's control boost: Y/N?
Oh wait... what if we still used the charger?

At least the injector problem is tackled so far.

But doing a Turbo conversion, to me seems pointless. If money is no object, sure go for it. I will salivate when i hear status reports. But why Turbo? If it is because you want the blow off sound, well, to me that seems like the worst reason. I think a far better option is to go with an AMG engine. Stays within the marque.

Hey, will legos work too?
Super-turbo-charged = twin charging, its been done before.
This is just me so don't take any offense but from other threads (with the exception of a few) have great knowledge in Mercedes and actually go out and mod their cars while most just pay and have it done. Guess I'm just use to being a hands on guy and working on cars.
First off, you would need to open up some room in the engine bay. Its pretty tightly fit in there as is. Easiest way to clear some space is to take out the AC. You might be able to fit the intercooler in front of the radiator with a little bit of work.
You would definetly want to get new exhaust and headers, most likely both would have to be a custom make.
Again, as tangerine said, you would have to get alarger fuel pump and injectors, and most likely again they would have to be a custom make. Im cant think of anything off hand you would be able to just pick up and swap.
Basically, your looking at a ton of custom work, alot of manuvering around an already tightly packed engine, and then alot of tuning that would have to be done at a shop.
Tangerine, Granted the 1.8l turbo runs out of breath at the higher end, thats where the supercharger really shines. They would kind of even each other out. At least, I would think.
