Anyone know how much is it to repaint the front bumper?

My car is fine just that all this snow, rocks, gravel, salt is really killing my front end. I'm most likely going to get the car fully detailed and buffed after winter but i want to get my front bumper repainted. Does anyone know how much it is??? Thank You

Bumper painting is expensive, what mj50 said or more. I did parts myself with spray cans, check it out on my website in the how-to section.

u should ask for the price in ur local body shop, that will be more effective. BTW don't try to ask the dealership, cuz you would be ****

Actually I beg to differ. Mercedes isn't in the painting industry, they refer their business to a contractor who they feel offers the highest quality work. In essence what that means is - the referred body shop gave me a quote of $300 to paint my front bumper; another random body shop quoted me $100. So while it's cheaper at the latter place, the safety, accuracy, and security of going to a Mercedes recommended body shop is enough to make me consider paying the $200 extra.

I live in New York, so those prices may be a little bit higher or lower, depending on where you live.

yes i do know mercedes don't do paint job themselves and they outsource others to do it, but they charge tons as a "middle person". But come on, how do you know the mercedes recommended body shop is good? Just ask around in ur local area and see which body shop does a good work, then sticks with them. I never think Mercedes parts are good quality, actually i think they are pretty crappy especially when it comes to electronics. I paid extra money for buying "Mercedes", Headlight Ballast got burnt in 2 and a half years, and they dont' have a clue on how to fix them unless you pay to check this and that.

Honestly, im tired of Mercedes. Anything that's not covered warranty, no thx im not going back to mercedes. From my experience, Mercedes = rip off, and not "High Quality"

Wow, I guess some dealerships do it differently. For me, Mercedes does not charge a 'mark-up', they charge the exact price that given by the body shop. Mercedes told me to only use that bottom shop because of factors of warranty, if something was installed wrong or something then as long as it was installed at that body shop Mercedes would figure out how to correct it. Otherwise they don't want to hear it.

But in any case, it's a good place to start - in terms of looking for a good body shop.

One way to tell if a body shop is good or not is their warranty. Good body shops usually give you lifetime warranty on their work as long as you own the vehicle.

Are the chips really small? If so, just get the auto-pen. It is more accurate than the stupid brush touch up paint things at the dealership.

ya i think i'm gonna check out ebay and other places and see how much i can get a AMG bumper for. I'll also ask around at the different body shops by me. The chips are okay for now but from parkin on campus i have some scuffs there not deep scratches i'm sure they can be buffed out. Once its spring i'll see if i can take them out if not i'll just have the bumper repainted or maybe a AMG or Brabus Style bumper???

That's why I put the car away in the winter. Besides, you can't repaint the Bix lenses and all the other stuff that takes a pounding in the winter.

I got an AMG bumper off of ebay with the reinforcement for i think it was $350 shipped. The virtualjunkyard on ebay almost always have them. Some are damaged some not so much.
