C's with Nav upgrade

My family's lookin for a used C, V6

In seeing some of the interior photos I wanted to know which Model Years had the non D2B system(I believe its called that, its basically the old small slot OEM radio thing with a open slot underneath)

I want to make sure we can get Nav installed so what year model should we be looking at?

I hope this make senses, any suggestions on what to get would also be nice

W203 up to 2004 was the D2B system and 2005+ is the MOST system. The MOST system is DVD based while the D2B is CD based. You can put COMAND in both but the CD based system will be cheaper to retrofit.

is retrofitting the D2B system with a Comand W/NAV capability a DIY? How much do kits go for?

I'm not so interested in the Comand being DVD based, just so long as I can get a nav system in

COMAND = Nav

Yes, it can be a DIY. It is not too hard to do and you can get pricing from a Sponsor on the board "MBenzNL" you can go to www.mbenznl.com for complete details and information on the system.

Huh? Doesn't the comand need to be hooked up to a NAV disc drive dedicated to reading the nav disc? The E's require a dvd drive to be attached to the MOST system in the trunk, then the comand reads the disc when trying to display nav...

The C class does not have a seperate NAV drive like the E class does. It is all one unit.

You still need to get it programed by the dealership.

You can put a COMAND in and it will be fully funtional without programming. The programming will give you the display in the dash.

That's good to know...but it's not possible to install a comand in a D2B system?

Saprissa Feb 20, 2007 02:13 AM

on C-Class:

There is COMAND for D2B (CD based) = up to 2004
and COMAND for MOST (DVD based) = 2005 +

Damn, Looks like i can't read:crazy:

I'm supposing the D2B system has to be replaced with the old-style looking Comand 2.0?

I'm interested in getting a car capable of having the 05+ comand installed, the nice modern one similar to the E/CLS style..

You will need a 2005 and newer c class to get the new style unit. Start your car search with '05MY and go from there. See if you can find one with COMAND installed. Good luck on your search. :y

If you want a new system in an older c class be prepared to spend thousands upon thousands of dollars to convert the whole system. It has been done but it is neither easy or cheap.
