AVIC D3 Bluetooth
  Hey so i just installed my AVIC D3 with ipod, cd changer, and bluetooth. Then when i tried to connect my phone i had problems turns out it doesnt work with smart phones. Thats what the guy at pioneer told me. I have the Treo 650 from verizon have any of you had issues like this or know anything i can do to get it to work???

There was something about software upgrade for the Treo to connect to the Mercedes Bluetooth set up. Maybe you need to make sure you have the newest software. I think you can dial some number with Verizon and it will update to the newest version.

where did you purchase the pioneer bluetooth unit (please dont say ebay... haha). i heard it was released yet and im just waiting until mid-april (?). did yo get the cd-btb200? or the cd-btb100?

Pioneer's bluetooth implementations unfortunately do not follow the bluetooth standard; whether this is because of difficulty of implementing or some sort of licensing issue is unclear.
In any event, Pioneer bluetooth requires that phones be in visible AND discoverable mode. Several phones on their list of compatible phones (which does not include the Treo 650) have both modes active by default (despite the security problems inherit to that decision). My old Mpx220 smartphone, despite being on the list, wouldn't autoconnect without being in discoverable mode. I've yet to get a Treo 650 to work with mine, but, as stated above, a new software update from Palm has been rumored to get things working, but I can say that Treo 750s do work with Pioneer HUs. Go to Palm's site and get the update and give that a try. Also, Treo's seem to connect better when the phone is trying to initiate the connection, as opposed to the radio trying to connect to the phone (it fails randomly). Give the updated software a try. If it doesn't work, it may be time to switch up to a new phone, if possible. |

anyways back to topic, i assume u are using BTB-100, whereas the BTB-200 that's coming out has fixed lots of competiblity issue. I sometimes have trouble auto connect my P910 Sony Ericsson smart phone, and my installer promised me that he can exchange the BTB200 for me once it comes out, i'll keep u guys posted.
