Thanks Frank!

After a year or so, I wanted to thank Frank one more time for that great group buy he organized for us mbworld members. The finish on the wheels is amazing and they are tough when it comes to road hazards. If I recall right there were 20 people in that group buy and I just wanted to ask who still has them on his car and youre experiences. Also I'd like for anyone who wants to sell his pm me, because I couldnt imagine mounting different wheels in case something happens.

Some pics from yesterday so you know what I'm talking about :D

Looks very clean. Do you mind sharing how much $$$ was the powdercoating? I'm thinking in doing this as well.

They were purchased that way. kickR, you need a drop BAD.

Like Blake said, they came powdercoated already. But a sponsor here powdercoats wheels for about $70 a wheel if i recall right.

If I'd do the drop I could only carry 2 people max since I have now 265 in the back and I won't take the risk of having my fenders rolled. It looks much better in person ... somehow that gap always stands out so much in the pictures, especially when the shot is taken from the ground :(

Very nic(drool). Id sure like to thank FrankW too...
FrankW, how bout another groupbuy on these or possibly the B6? Im diffinitely in. btw kickR what kind of tires do you have and hows the tread life?

yeuchau 04-05-2007 08:15 PM

wanna share the price of that wheel??

rlee02135 04-05-2007 08:17 PM

good choice of tires :y

FrankW 04-05-2007 08:40 PM

I thought this thread was a year old from the title...LOL

you are welcome, Alex. I think only 10 ppl end up with these.

the raw material cost has gone up, but I could order another batch if anyone want'em. 5 sets at once. just PM or email me or something.

Harry Madan 04-05-2007 10:21 PM

ur car looks really nice man. :y

///AMG4EVER 04-05-2007 10:55 PM

Thanks for the reply guys. $70 per wheel seems reasonable, unfortunately there aren't too many options here in Houston and they charge $125 as a flat rate per wheel (the regular wheel repair shops).

raklert 04-05-2007 11:40 PM

looks pretty dope. :y what do you think about black rims on silver car?

advans 04-05-2007 11:45 PM

i regret not participating in the group buy! looks sexy!

I think it would look good, as long as you have some other "black" parts going with it, like tinted windows for example. But then again I also like yan-kens (?) setup very much with the multispoke silver wheels (from Mandrus?).

ur car looks really nice man.
thanks ;)

good choice of tires
Hehe yea, I bought each for $198 at tirerack .... now they went up about $70 each. lucky lucky

Front are conti 2's and rear are new Goodyears 265's. Dont know anything of their tread life since theyre new, but i wasnt really happy with the tread life of my rear contis :(

So you could get the exact wheels from the same manufacturer again if you wanted?

Those wheels are the AMG Twin Replica's right? I must say that if they were powder coated to match each persons car who bought them, they must look awesome. kickR your car is pimpin and the black wheels reallly look nice with the paint of the car. I wonder what some Orion Blue would look like? I have the AMG Twin Replica wheels, but I wouldn't know where to get that done and if it would even look cool or not. I would like to see other peoples cars who bought those as well. Very clean car kickR!

Dunno. I guess I'm the only one active on the board who was in that group buy. I guess I'm special  although I'd like to see some comments of the other people with the same wheels.

PS: Rlee- Your car is taking shape again ... nice :y

I just saw a white C230 Kompressor (badge was modified to "23 Kompressor") heading west on Imperial Highway from Brea Mall tonight with the same wheels, and it looks like they were using lowering springs and something like 35% tint on the back windows.

I followed for a bit to check out any other mods, but it looks like he kept everything stock save for the wheels, suspension, and partial de-badge. It looked very clean, but I don't think these would go well with Mars red.

I disagree with your last sentence

Dunno where the side picture went but I think black wheels even look very good on red ;)

ChristianJan 04-08-2007 04:30 PM

Still have mine, and aside from my stupidity with the curb rashes, they're doing great.

wang 04-08-2007 05:01 PM

Mars red C230 w/ black rims

Well, it seems like that might work out OK, but to be seriously happy with it I would need to:

1) Switch out for a black CLK grille http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/01-02...spagenameZWDVW

2) Switch out the hood star for a flat badge

3) Put some smoked S-class rear tail lights on, which I'm not even sure are available for the 2006 W203 (I'm a newbie to modding)

4) Tint up the windows

5) Drop the car a bit; looks like most people on the forums have had the best results with H&Rs and Tein Basic coilovers

Don't get me wrong, I love red-on-black (I've got Mars red with a black interior), but I think for the exterior appearance alloy or a stainless looks just pops more.
