Service B at 5300 Miles
should i have Service B done or request for Service A (and reset the cluster to read Service B for next time)?

I'm pretty sure it does the service thing by date. So even though you're not at a mileage interval, b/c of the internal clock/calendar, it's calling for service. I doubt you need anything from a service B...
You live in So Cal but only have 5,300 on your 06!!!! That's nuts!
I haven't seen you post in a while either, so the low mileage is probably an indicator as well!

Make sure your servicer uses the correct Mercedes specified products for your year model car.
Mr. Phil is absolutely right, there is a calendar in 2005 and up W203s and the computer will request an oil change every year regardless of the mileage.

I bought this car in April 2006 as a 2 y/o car with just 1600 miles on the clock. It is ex-foreign embassy and was mainly stored under cover. At the sale time the cluster ordered an 'A' service, so I had that done before delivery.
So now at 12,000 miles (and out of warranty) it is instructing me to do a 'B' service. Because of the low mileage I have decided to just change the oil & filter myself, and do the 'B' service stuff 10K miles later next year. I'll get the brake fluid changed then, and I will inspect the sparkplugs and air filters. I will not change them, as they are good for 50K miles.
