Sunroof issues: Searched
Hey guys im a newb to the benz world, but not the automotive world. I recently purchased a very clean 2002 Black / Black leather c230k with 80k miles on it with every option minus the nav package for 10grand. Clean carfax, maintained by Mercedes. I have owned rx7's for the last 8 years solid, restoring wrecked and fire cars. Decided to get hitched so I bought another car that would be more practical. Anyways, my question to you guys is when I got the car the sunroof curtains worked perfect, the sun roof would go up but only back about 4 inches. I read in my manual and searched on here and I came up with the solution of trying to sync it first. Long story short, I tried to sync it, now the sun roof will go all the way back, stoping in 4inch increments the entire way back, but the curtains will not close, and it gives kinda a grinding sound when I attempt to close them. If anyone can give any suggestion minus the take it to mercedes so they can rape me for a grand id appreciate it

Somthing to add, I just noticed all the directional controls on the sunroof controller are not working besides pushing back will pop up the roof and go back, and any other will make it go forward. So forward, up and down all go forward. back goes back.

My '03 had similar issues when I first got it (used). The dealer said all they had to do was clean/lube the tracks and then re-sync. You might CAREFULLY (don't want to pinch/smash any fingers) try applying some force when it's openning to see if that helps. If it does help, it's probably just getting hung up.

Here is a picture of where to lube the sunroof. I like lanolin, but other greases work fine. While you are poking around, make sure the drain hoses are clear, or your sun roof will become a rain roof.

what do I do about my sunroof controller seaming to have come unprogrammed? I changed the battery right after i got the car, when I did that i sync the windows, and tried the sunroof and that is when this problem happened. Until I tryed to sync the sunroof the sunroof curtain thingy worked perfect, sunroof would pop up and go 4 inches back but no futher. Now the sunroof goes all the way back but I cant control the curtain at all..
