sounds good...but when will it be done?

C230 Sport Coup Aug 2, 2007 03:05 AM

Ha, my favorite color. Lookin' pretty stock there....
don't see spring or CO's on your list...I'd start there with the AMG sways while you're at it, wheels, then pulley.

Those 16's just spin once the pulley is on...I know, I tried 'em, and had to go back to the 17's for traction. 16s get better mileage though.
And the tint asap for sure too. Paint the grill black too. Looks hot.

Been a while since I saw a c230 sitting that high off the ground.
Stock suspension just sux. Bouncy bouncy in the front!

Thats about a $10K-20K list you got there. Plus install, unless you DIY.

Wow that's a lot of mods to follow up on, but some great mods on that list. Just remember to take it one at a time. That is unless you have the money to buy everything all at once, in that case have fun! Also, if you have any questions, us Coupe-ers would be glad to help you with any questions that need to be answered :y

Nice color and nice MOD list :y...future plans is always good. Go with performance then exterior in my opinion, But its all on you.

Like what christian said, "take it one at a time" lol

valexv Aug 2, 2007 09:32 AM

yeah it will be a while and one at a time. I forgot to put suspension but not sure who i want to go with. I already have the 05 shift knob, 05 blinkers, clear sides, bi-xenon, and some other parts. Hopefully it will be done this weekend. There are some more mods but those will be kept secret for a while. thanks, and I will keep you guys updated as I go along.

I am with you on most of those mods. My first is going to be the asp pulley then some coilovers , then tires. After that, command components. I really want the climatronic as well.

i think you did list the suspension in your original post, but you confused the Eibach Pro kit with the H&R sport springs. :)

cool list. have fun at it.

valexv Aug 2, 2007 07:58 PM

Noticed that you're going with 10,000k bulbs in your bi-x set-up. You probably already know this, but a common misconception with color temp is that "higher = more light" - but most stock color temps are right on for the maximum output of lumens (around 4100 - 4300k). Going up from that actually DECREASES performance (i.e. lumen output) of the headlights, as the light goes from white, to blue, to purple, to black. This article states even going from 4300k to 6000k results in a loss of about 20% light output, and it keeps dropping like a rock from there - at 12,000k, your lights are equivalent to a blacklight, which has almost zero usable light output.

http://tbyrne.com/hids/hids.html

So, if you're looking for style, by all means go to the 10,000k bulbs - if you're looking for performance, stick with stock.

valexv Aug 3, 2007 06:32 PM

thanks but i've researched that already and I was going with the blue. I know its not as bright as 6000k.

C24owner Aug 3, 2007 07:09 PM

I have 10,000k in my headlights and fog lights and the visibility is still great.

Valexv:
How do you go about installing an '05 shifter on an earlier model sports coupe? I have not been able to find concrete instructions on this site and people at two MB parts departments in Houston have told me that it can't be done because of some differences in the structure of the shifter. Any help would be appreciated, include what parts are needed, where to buy, etc. Thanks.
